You think "The Platoon USA" is going to outscoop Woj who every player and GM has on their speed dial and he gets notified of deals before trade calls are even finished? Let alone scoop every Pelican or Sixers beat writer out there or a guy like Aldridge or Marc Stein? Please.

If its Asik, the pick has to be like Top 3 protected. Everything else would be a disaster. We need something great in return for giving away a Top 3 Pick and eating Asiks ugly contract

Please god no. I wouldnt trade a heavily protected 2nd rd pick for Asik and 1st rd pick, much less give them Okafor.

Agree. Only way that happens would be seeing Okafor walking through the airport in New Orleans and just guessing and putting it together. Still then, someone would know before Okafor would have time to fly to New Orleans.
Anyone who gets a report that like correct before Woj, just does it on pure luck.

Take it easy Bryan, we aren't out of page 55 yet.

It better be VERY lightly protected if we're eating Asik.
source?
Saw it on the Bulls board but again, not sure if legit.

While I totally agree, I think most of the responses are commenting only "if' the rumor was true. Personally speaking, Woj may be the only insider that I take stock in.

Re: Okafor trade talk:(pg.18) Held out of Sat game due to possible trade
To be honest, I think it's a little disconcerting that on Saturday night, the Woj didn't report anything about talks heating up or a deal being close. Aldridge said talks are "advancing" Stein reported later "Talks are heating up" but Woj said nothing. If something was close, he would've tweeted it out. I think just like in free agency, Stein and Aldridge were used to tactically to create a narrative.
And 90% of the rumors coming out were from that dude "Keith Smith" who I still don't even know who that person is or if he's even legit. Take away that guy, and we honestly have very little rumor-wise aside from Okafor not playing in the game.

I mean, people are posting "rumor is X and Y for Z" as if it's being tweeted by a reputable source when in reality it's coming from the equivalent of a libertyballers fanpost

I'm just the messenger bro.
People are talking. They're saying it's a done deal. Okafor to the Pelicans. The return is YUUUGGGGEEEE. I'm talking Omer Asik AND a pick. A lot of people are saying this. Some of the most intelligent people.

I hope it's not true, if it is then BC got played big time. He probably panicked from reports that NO was talking to the Nets for Lopez. This guys is a dam fool.

Re: Okafor trade talk:(pg.18) Held out of Sat game due to possible trade
Chicago remains interested in acquiring Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor. It’s unclear at this time if exploring the trade market for a first-round pick in exchange for either Lopez or McDermott is related to the Okafor trade talks. – via Basketball Insiders
Offering up Robin Lopez definitely means the Bulls are looking to rebuild instead of towards the playoffs.
Therefore, there's every reason to think that Jimmy Butler is on the block to the highest bidder. It makes sense to try and move the
lesser pieces first. Meanwhile, Jimmy Butler is not playing because of a day-to-day "heel" injury.
There is no reason for the Sixers to be interested in Doug McDermott or Robin Lopez since they create a logjam in the frontcourt just as Okafor did.
Chicago has virtually nothing to offer the Sixers besides maybe Jerian Grant and a mid-first round pick. Obviously, it hasn't been enough.
Therefore, the constant reminder that Chicago is interested in Jahlil can only be a signal to teams coming after Jimmy Butler that they need to get Okafor to get a deal done.
The Nuggets have a star in Nikola Jokic and are building around him.
Jokic is a horrific defender (54% DFG), much worse than Okafor (48.4% DFG). Getting premium defenders, like Jimmy Butler, would seem to be a high priority.
Danilo Gallinari is a very good player on an expiring contract. Kenneth Fraried is on the block and he is better than any front court personnel the Bulls have.
Because they would getting Jimmy Butler in return, the Nuggets can also afford to move either Wilson Chandler, Will Barton, Gary Harris, Malik Beasley, Emmanuel Mudiay or Jamal Murray--each of whom is on a very good contract.
If Okafor helps Denver get Jimmy Butler from Chicago, giving the #7pick in the 2015 draft for the #3pick in the draft should be a no-brainer, since both prospects have, for good and bad, performed exactly as their draft profiles said they would.

Im ok with eating Asik cause at the end of the day its about the pic not the player. So long as the pick is lightly protected then I dont care

I'd rather have the heavily protected 2nd round pick...

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Omer Asik for a lightly protected first and a pick swap works for me, but not with a Okafor also in the trade. That rumor better not be true.

If we are trading for Asik we have to trade Noel. Can't pay two backup centers 30 million. However, at this point we have to move Okafor so he might as well be in the deal.
