That's because your the guy that Okafor thumped in Boston. I'd hate him too.

Wow, talk about trade fatigue. I don't remember the last time an impending transaction was dragged out this long.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Anyone remember the good old days when we had a 200 page thread on Sixerfan1976 rumors?

Kinda prefer the post sf76 era with Hinkie not leaking anything and the team ending up winning almost every one, some with just ridiculous returns... Really Vlade?

Any chance of a three way trade between us, NOP and Chicago? trying to figure out how the puzzle pieces might fit there.

Who cares about losing Okafor......if we're taking on Asik then it's all about the protection on that pick.

Jeez, I'm assuming that BC had something like a secure fall back position, if the kid is saying goodbye to folks on the sidelines. but if it's a bust, no need doing anything stupid. he'll still play in the rising stars game. then he can go to the d-league and work on pick and roll and hitting the outside jumper. maybe he never pans out, so what? if we ain't gonna get nothing worthwhile for him, we can afford to gamble on his eye popping bull rushes to the rim to (with much effort) translate into a secondary skill. we got another year.

Pretty good read on Okafor on ESPN's 538 site has popped up today.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/does-jahlil-okafor-have-a-place-in-todays-nba/?addata=espn:frontpage

Maybe the most interesting stat to me is he is second last out of 70 qualified centers in defensive RPM. What shocked me is who is last.... Karl Anthony Towns. How is that possible? How lazy of a defender he must be to score out that poorly with all his physical size and ability.

There is an interesting chart in the article that shows all the playoff big men who were crappy rebounders but still had a role on the team.

After watching a good bit of Minny, I feel like Towns tries to do way too much on the defensive end, and it really doesn't seem like anybody on that team yet understands Thib's defensive schemes

Always thought Towns was better suited at power forward. Not sure what his graphical scientifical DRAWV DPOY PER piex2#588 is (enter analytical formula)....In other words I don't know if he's worse defensively as a power forward, but I just thought he always was better at that position.

That would be perfect!
51X3RF4N wrote:Also, I wouldn't be shocked to see 2 trades take place in relatively close time frames. 1 for Okafor going out, and 1 for Noel going out. Wouldn't surprise me if Noel deal was even announced first, and sends the fans into an uproar (and subsequently thinking Okafor is staying), and then the Okafor deal is announced and the fans go absolutely crazy. 1 of the deals would be bringing in a backup Center (like Asik or Ajinca) for a body when Embiid is out, and the other will bring in a guard and both will involve 1st round picks.

LOL

I honestly feel bad for Okafor. Hes been an absolute man about this entire situation. Hes got his serious flaws as a basketball player, but hes shown to be a hell of a person through all of this. 100% puts that Boston incident behind him and has proven his character to me. He obviously was good friends with many of the guys on the team through all of this. But its almost like he has been banished assuming a trade was about to happen. Now he sits wherever he is waiting.

If this ridiculously drags out until Friday, hes going to have to suit up in a Sixers uniform and play against his "current" teammate Dario Saric and I would assume his other "current" teammate Joel Embiid watching on the opposing bench.

No matter the outcome of this trade, I think Jahlil deserves major props for how hes handled the ridiculous situation hes been put in as a 21 year old kid.

#1) Young players tend to suck at defense. Seeing a rookie defend like Embiid does (or Noel did) is pretty rare. Especially in today's switch heavy defensive schemes that have to face a ton of P&R.

#2) There's no chance Towns is the "worst" defender at the Center position. These +/- based stats like RPM have to be taken with a huge grain of salt. There are a ton of factors that affect them.

Live in Minnesota and I can assure you Kat is simply horrific on the defensive end of the floor. He's all out offensively, but on the defensive end of the floor he could care less.

This honestly looks terrible from our stand point. Colangelo dropped the ball big time.
