Oh, and to top it off, I think Lopez, Ibaka, etc all get dealt and we're the only ones who couldn't make a deal.

I think it would be just too humiliating for BC to not trade him at this point. We have come too far now.

I agree and that makes me think he's being bent over atm and he's trying to hold out for a better deal. I have a feeling this is gonna end up a bad deal for us.

Every time this season when I've thought "____ is too crazy, no way the Sixers would ever do that" I've been proven wrong, so nothing will surprise me anymore.

I think the same thing everytime I see Sergio's corpse dragged up off the bench.

In the meantime, they are trying to recoup another first (before presumably trading us one) by trading Lopez or McDermott elsewhere.

Sounds fairly plausible. I can understand us wanting McDermott over Valentine assuming the pick is the same protection/year. Right now Chicago is at #17 in the Tankathon. I can easily see that going down towards 12-14 by the end of the year. They also get the SAC pick if it falls out of the top 10. Perhaps we end up trading for the higher of the SAC or CHI pick along with Valentine.

Not saying that insider is wrong but, if they are trading McDermott for a 1st to give it to us but we want McDermott isn't there some sort of logic issue with that?

If we turned down Valentine and a 1st Colangelo is a total moron. It's not amazing, but we could do far worse.

Kings pick swap may be valuable though.

But yeah, Valentine and McDermott are trash. I'd rather send Jahlil to Qatar and let their scientist alter his DNA and make him a super athlete.

Ummm...they did start together for a few weeks this season just as we tried starting Noel and Okafor together at times last season. In both cases to state that it didn't work out would be putting it mildly primarily due to Okafor's inability to defend the low post while Noel/Embiid were forced outside to defend stretch 4s.

Keep building around Andre Drummond, we'll see who gets closer to a ring.

Okafor and Embiid spent enough minutes on the court together to conclude it doesn't work and that's an understatement. On the offensive side it was closer to passable (way worse than Embiid + stretch 4) and defensively it was a mess. Okafor can't chase 4's in the NBA and it is a damn waste to assign Embiid with that job since he's already one of the best rim protectors in the league.

Some people prefer to remain ignorant than take 30 seconds of time to fact check before spewing false information and hate. This tendency generally results in embarrassing oneself though unfortunately he might be too dim-witted to realize.

I read somewhere that Philly is asking Chicago for 2 firsts, and maybe a player also. And now the report that chi is making McDermott available for a 1st....that tells me he isn't the sixers target. So it might be Valentine or mirotic. If Colangelo can land 2 future 1sts and mirotic/valentine for Okafor, i think that's a good deal.

The teams have NOT yet signed off on the trade but the latest talks have NOLA shipping Alexis Ajinca and a future first for Jahlil Okafor.

Isn't that old? The date says Feb 6th

It is but that was not meant to be posted as breaking news.

The point is according to reputable sources he has been offered a first round pick for a player on a modest deal (Ajinca). The pick somewhere else was revealed to be top ten protected pick in 2018.

So no we shouldn't need to take on Asik to get a top three protected pick. Which assuming everything stands the same (which it won the pelicans are the most talented of the bottom teams) has a 75 percent chance of being 7th or 8th

I think your trade expectations are ridiculous. The Pelicans pick on average ends up in the 6-9 range this year.

I'd expect a team to require something like the 16th-21st pick to take on the Asik contract, a mid-late 1st. Okafor is not going to fetch more than that. Even getting something like the 20th pick for Okafor seems pretty ambitious but I'll use it for the sake of argument.

You aren't going to be able to trade two mid-late 1sts (say the 18th pick and the 20th pick) to acquire roughly the 8th pick.

You say that we shouldn't even need to take on Asik to get a top 3 protected pick and I think that even taking on Asik isn't enough to get a top 3 protected pick for Okafor.

If the Bulls have really offered Valentine and a 1st for Okafor, we should pull the trigger. As long as we get a SOMEWHAT decent offer for Okafor, we should go for it. However, I would not trade him for the best offer that is available out there as some have suggested. No way we should dump him for the likes of Langston Galloway who really gives us nothing. Okafor may still hold some value during the draft. Maybe we can move up in the draft by a couple or so slots when we deal him. You could not achieve this with the likes of Galloway.

So, removing him from the team, we sort of have to trade him before the deadline now, don't we? I suppose it's not necessary to, but how much more awkward could this get?

If Chicago is offering Valentine and any 1st round pick, the 76ers should take it and run.
