I find it hard to believe, that either to a contender who needs a scoring guard off the bench, or a team that wants to move a guy who is hitting their cap at, say, 15 million+ a year for 2 years after this one, that either of teams wouldn't move a #1 pick for Rose, as long as it projects mid first round or lower.

Meaning, say a playoff team needs some scoring punch off the bench. Knicks take back contracts of any length now more than 3 (one guy, 3 guys, whatever) and take a #1 in the 25-30 range.

On the other hand, a more borderline or even "out of the playoffs" team could take Rose just to move 15+ million owed a guy for 2\3 years after this. That's got to be worth a mid first rounder to someone. Possibly a team that has an extra pick but would move a sort of bad contract.

Knicks aren't going to be all that good for this year +2 more, if they are going to take on some salary, it should be for picks, but not past that window.

I am pretty sure Portland would be interested in dumping some of their summer prizes. They have three first round picks.

So, how stupid was Rob Fennigan & the Magic in trying to please Frank Vogel?! :-?

They ended up trading Oladipo (capable 20 PPG Wing with some passing skills) AND a Lotto pick (ended up being Domantas Sabonis, starting PF for the OKC Thunder), AND Ilyasova (who has been terrific and is expiring for the 76ers) for Ibaka.

THEN

They turn around and trade him for Terrence Ross (who the Raps don't really like) AND the Raps LOWER 1st!!!!

Had they just waited, they could've gotten a better package from say the Pelicans, or Boston, etc.

Fennigan is likely gone soon.

The downside for us, is that the Magic become a BIGGER Tank threat! :( :banghead:

Melo for Love seems like a perfect trade now...we get to tank and gain a little youth..

I can't believe how poorly Orlando has handled their assets. I feel like they draft well, but then they do things like giving up extra firsts to move up a little, using a lottery pick and a young stud to trade for a win now piece on an expiring deal, and then flip that win now piece for a very low first and a role player.

I am just going to say this. If we ever wanted to trade for a guy like Ibaka, we would probably package a lottery pick along with a young stud. We are just bad at negotiating deals.

Wonder if Orlando is willing to sell Hezonja on the cheap or Payton? I like Elf's game. He can't shoot but, he's still only 22 and he's a good defender, passer and decent finisher at the rim.

It's happening. We're going to trade Lee, a better fit on a decent contract, to sign Wade to a 4 year huge deal. Just like we did with RoLo and Noah

I think we can somehow get the money to pay for the following line up
Noah
KP
Melo
Wade
Paul

I think it will go about as well as the Nets KG-Pierce trade, but I think it's possible.

Thomas, Jennings, Lee for Wade, sign CP3 in off season. LBJ begs his way out of CLE to join the banana boat crew. (greenest font possible)

Good green font version, the Knicks version is
*trade Lee, Kuz and future 1st for protected second rounder
*sign Wade for 4 years 80 mil
*sign Paul for 4 years 120 mil

Paul and Wade play a combined 45 games in 2018.
cap hell, no picks for the season.

The Blazers aren't trading a 24 years old McCollum, who's improved LITERALLY every year in the League, for a 4 year older, injury prone Love and his Playoffs disappearing act.

As a Knicks fan, I'd LOVE it tho. :P

Idk, to be honest.. Do we really believe that the Blazers are keeping both CJ/Dame when they don't fit well together? Love and Lillard is a much better pairing.

Even if they don't fit together, that's a BIG downgrade for Portland.

Also, I don't think it's that bad for them. If they had a better Frontcourt, they'd 100% be in the Playoffs. Too bad this Draft is guard heavy in the Lotto.

Anyway, CJ would definitely fetch more than that if they did want to break up the duo.

I'd like to see a team offer more than Love + taking on Ezeli or Crabbe's contract. I don't know what team would offer more than that. Boston wouldn't take CJ, the Bulls wouldn't move Butler for him, neither would the Kings with Boogie. If you break them up, it's difficult to get exactly equal value if you want to win now.

I think Portland would rather trade their lotto pick for a third option instead of shipping out CJ. I've seen rumors out there about Whiteside being a possibility for the Blazers pick. Portland has two more 1st rounders this year too to either add to the rotation or include in a trade with the lotto pick for an even better player.

So a RealGM poster proposed this deal on the trade board. It got killed by ORL fans. They ended up not even getting what was originally proposed

How bout this?

And the Bulls send the better 1st round pick between theirs and the Kings to us.

Bulls might do it because both Wade and Taj could bounce this summer for nothing. Cavs do this for obvious reasons, and we cut salary and get a lotto pick...unless Rondo, Shump, JButler, KLove, RoLo make the playoffs. Even still, a pick in the 15-17 range is good this year...still would have a shot at Sac's too.

Dude Melo has to be worth more than an expiring Taj and Channing Frye. Him for Love is the only reasonable deal out there. Ball is in Clevelands court now.
