Austin Spurs are on a three game winning streak. They beat the Suns squad tonight and Charles Garcia and Patricio Garino (who was in training camp this year with the Spurs) had big games. Corey Jefferson had a double-double as well.

Garino can play. Such natural ability and a lot of skill on display there.

Bryn Forbes and Dejounte Murray reported to Austin yesterday and made their presences felt against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, combining for 39 points and each snagging seven boards. Murray threw in eight assists in the win, which snapped a two-game skid for the junior Spurs.

The full game's viewable here (Facebook, so you likely need an account): https://www.facebook.com/nbadleague/videos/10154763792800289/

Austin's off until Thursday when we face the Dallas-affiliate Texas Legends, a team featuring former Spur DeJuan Blair and former NBA 6MOY Ben Gordon.

Its kind of interesting that when Murray and Forbes are sent down, I don't like watching Austin as much, because I know they have shown moments on the pro level of competency. I like watching Austin to see the improvements from Garino, Jean-Charles, Jefferson and Garcia.

Ain't nothin' but the G-League, baby.

Our soon-to-be-called-G-league affiliate (story here: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/244900/D-League-To-Be-Renamed-NBA-G-League-As-Part-Of-Gatorade-Sponsorship) is on an unfortunate two-game losing streak after dropping games to Santa Cruz (info and full game here: http://dleague.nba.com/games/20170211/AUSSCW/) and Los Angeles (info and full game here: http://dleague.nba.com/games/20170212/AUSLAD/).

Consistency seems to be his biggest deficit, but he had a great all-around game in the loss to Los Angeles, hanging 16 points on the D-Fenders (on 14 shots), tossing in seven rebounds and six dimes with a couple of steals.

The Junior Spurs are off until the 23rd in observance of the D-League all-star break. The all-star game will be played Saturday (18th) afternoon at 1:30PM Central at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans; forward Cory Jefferson will represent Austin for the Western Conference.

Pretty good article on the Austin Spurs recent games. A good breakdown of how Jefferson has been playing is featured as well as some analysis on the acquisition of former 76ers Hollis Thompson,

Some highlights from some of Hanga's recent games:

It's hard not to like him. He has his warts but I really do believe that he's an NBA caliber player.

Spurs forward Cory Jefferson had a forgettable all-star game, finishing with four points and three rebounds as the West NBDL team fell 105-100 to the East squad. The full game is viewable here.

There was some interesting action and the game was mildly fun to watch as it was close, but the talent gap is real. I kind of got the sense, though, that these guys were treating it as much like an audition as an exhibition, and that made it more compelling than the real all-star game in a sense.

Man, he's got a nice inside-outside game and some solid passing chops, too. Down the road, he could be someone for us to Hanga our hat on.

...

...I'm sorry.

Seriously, though, great moves and shooting from him here.

 Nothing to be sorry about.

If we lose Simmons in the summer he could be a solid replacement. They kinda have similar games.

Bryn Forbes went nuts tonight in Austin. Dropped 36 and kind of made it look easy. I can't wait to see him in Summer League with the confidence of knowing that he belongs on this level. Once he feels more comfortable handling, that jumper is too pure.

And what exactly does his age have to do with that?
