Is Ibaka really 27?

Looking at his production and athleticism drop off gradually in the past several years, this is making me think its a lot more than just a hoax... You dont peak at age 22-24 and then have a significant decline in the next several years.

Wonder if OKC knew something we didnt when trading him last year...

No. He is like the Taribo West of basketball. Not really a surprise when it comes athletes from Africa. I also don't think that Bismack is only 24 y/o

The decline in performance and most visibly in his physical abilities has me thinking he's somewhere in the 30-33 age group.

He's the same age as Gorgui Dieng, the guy who's still kind of trending up. Ibaka has been trending down defensively for a while now. Honestly, I don't believe him.

We have these kind of threads from time to time. The truth is that we don't know, and no one knows, and there is actually a good chance that Ibaka doesn't know either. In African countries, the paperwork and birth certificates are not always readily available. Even if he is older than 27, I think the worst case scenario is that he is around 30 right now. No way he is 33 or 34, that would be too obvious imo. Well, probably anyway.

Some guys just decline early. How old was Josh Smith when he fell off a cliff performance-wise? Well before 30 and he didn't even have injury issues.

While an average player may peak around 27 or so, some guys clearly peak much later which also means some guys peak much earlier. Compare Millsap with Josh Smith. Both were FA's in 2013, Millsap was actually older while Smith was seen as the better player at the time, but one has made All-NBA teams since then while the other was amnestied and is now out of the league.

So...

Ibakas best season statistically (13-14) per 36:
16.6/9.6/3.0 BLK on 53.6 FG % and 38.3 3PT % on 0.8 attempts

Ibaka this year with ORL per 36:
17.8/8.0/1.9 BLK on 48.8 FG % but 38.8 3PT % on 3.8 attempts

Where exactly has he declined?

He actually had just one down year (that was last season) and has gotten a little more perimeter oriented, that's about it.

I dont know but there was that one dude from Africa who posed as a high school kid and was kicking ass in football in Texas until the truth came out, so it wouldnt surprise me if Ibaka he was older, intentional or not.

Everywhere. He's rebounding and blocking less. He is scoring slightly more on higher usage and lower efficiency

He's game has changed to perimeter. His assists, steals and 3pga are up while his 2pga, rebs and blocks are down.
