If he's not older he plays like he is so I don't think it really matters, he just is what he is

Can we get some realGM detective work going on here (yearbook pictures, red arrows, the whole sha-bang)?
I need to know if Serge Ibaka is Thon Maker's son or cousin.

Re: Is Ibaka really 27?
Even before NBA while he was playing for Manresa in Spain everyone thought and/or had some proof that he was 4 years older. That was pretty much generally accepted as a fact

I have a hard time believing he's 27, his daughter is like in her early teens.

Guys, I once saw a 90s yearbook picture of Ibaka, Thon Maker, and Greg Oden.

Wonder if OKC knew something we didnt when trading him last year...
Major injuries.

and poor work ethic too.
Shaq on Duncan:SA won because of TD, a guy I could never break.I could talk trash to Ewing, get in D-Rob's face, get a rise out of Mourning, but when I went at Tim he’d look at me like he was bored and say:“Hey,Shaq, watch this shot right off the glass.”

I don't think a player goes from second fiddle to MVP caliber and posting a 30 per season has a poor work ethic...
He had scoliosis and wasn't even supposed to play pro-ball as long as he did.

He admits it. He has interviews saying that the scoliosis didn't even bother him during his first 10 years in the NBA. Heck, Usain Bolt has scoliosis.
I don't doubt he worked hard to become pro and a star. But what separates guys with similar talent is work ethic during a long period of time. That's what separates guys like T-Mac and Kobe. Kobe did it for 20 years dealing with several types of injuries. T-Mac peaked at the age of 23 and 6 years later he was already done.

Ibakas best season statistically (13-14) per 36:

Ibaka this year with ORL per 36:
17.8/8.0/1.9 BLK on 48.8 FG % but 38.8 3PT % on 3.8 attempts
Where exactly has he declined?
He actually had just one down year (that was last season) and has gotten a little more perimeter oriented, that's about it.
Everywhere. He's rebounding and blocking less. He is scoring slightly more on higher usage and lower efficiency
He's game has changed to perimeter. His assists, steals and 3pga are up while his 2pga, rebs and blocks are down.
He's more efficient this year than either of the last 2 before this.
It's really just blocks and offensive rebounds that are down. Everything else is the same or up.

Based on the information you provided, he's declined in blocks, FG% and rebounds. Also his free throw rate, offensive rebounding % and win shares are all down, among others.
He's clearly declined. Whether that's because he's secretly a senior citizen though, I doubt any of us will know.

Re: Is Ibaka really 27?
As a Raps fan, I think it's funny how many people claim to have been following Ibaka during his supposed decline in Orlando. Do people watch Magic games? I doubt it
I haven't watched him play. I don't watch the Magic. So looking at his numbers he looks to be very similar per 36 (as posted). The decrease in blocks/rebounds/FTA is easily explained by his increased perimeter play (also corroborated by his 3.8 3PAs)

Re: Is Ibaka really 27?
His ORB% and BLK% (2 numbers highly correlated with youth) are less than half of what they were at age 22. ORBs make sense if he's spending more time standing outside the arc but still. Massive drop.
Plus he has wrinkles.

Re: Is Ibaka really 27?
He's likely a couple of years older but it's obvious why certain stats have declined
Don't really see how it's an issue or topic though.
He'll get a 4 or 5 year deal this off-season and likely become even more perimeter orientated from now on.
