The irony of all of this if these rumored deals go down, Detroit will have Elf, Mario, and Harris. It will kill us all if they figure it out and develop nycely.

The real irony will be when Stan inherits them and makes winners out of them. Letting Van Gundy go was the beginning of our downfall.

Lol Stan is such a great gm/coach, so much that the team he built and coach sucks.

Re: The Trade Thread II
Trades are coming, I don't want it to be, but I think this is the order of likely to be delt
Payton
Hezonja
Vucevic
That's also the 3 I least want to be traded outside of Aaron Gordon. If we get past the deadline with those 3 I'll be very happy

Re: The Trade Thread II
I, for one, don't see any reason to trade Hezonja (now at least). I can't imagine he has any market value and I'd still like to see what he can do. He's on a cheap rookie deal, he's got good size and skill set...he's a mental tweak away from being much more valuable.

Re: The Trade Thread II
Deron's quietly having a pretty good year but I'm scared of his injury history. That pick is high lottery though (which makes it unlikely). Are you suggesting they (Dallas) rolls the dice on the Lakers pick (which as of now is a couple of 2nd rounders)?

Over the last few years, as I've seen Conley, Kyrie and now Wall looked at as top PGs, I hope we slow our role of getting rid of Payton. None of those 3 mentioned were much better than Payton in year 3. Payton has gotten better every year.

Yep. This off-season Mario has 2 choices. Go home and pout or stay here, and work hard with a good NBA trainer.

Re: The Trade Thread II
I watch Vuc's USC doc and I got all emotional and attached. Now I watch EP's high school jersey retirement with AG there and feel bad if he gets traded.
Things are about to quiet down now. NBA sort of frowns on trades and the like coming out during the AS festivities. We might get some rumors, but not a lot of movement till next week unfortunately.

Talk about an overpayment for a pick that more than likely will land lower lottery after the trade.
I get that this draft is top stacked, but I'm beginning to believe people are really overvaluing picks that aren't top 10.

Because stan isn't a great GM. And coaches should never be their own GM.

Year over year comparisons don't really work. All those guys came into the NBA as high draft picks and 5 star recruits because they had all the tools and just had to figure out how to put it all together. Those guys all came in at 19 with A+ potential. I would say Elf came in with closer to B potential.

It could also ruin our own tank, which is most important right now. We're too close to mess this up again.
Well according to Rob, "Our goal is to make the playoffs" lol If he wants to keep his job for a little longer he knows he has to tank.
It's the opposite. He knows he is on the way out if they don't show improvement.

I get your 2nd point. But how/why don't YTY comparisons work? He is clearly doing some/most things better this year.

I'll give you Conley... But Wall and Kyrie?? What makes you away that? Kyrie was a 2x all star by his third year and Wall was putting up 18/8 and would have made the all star team if he was healthy in his third year. Those guys were way better than Elfrid... They were/are stars

Kyrie I can back off of, he's been a solid shooter his whole career. BUT there were questions on his running a team the 1st few years.
Wall was a mess his 1st 3 years, wasn't until year 4 he shot decent. Turnovers are still super high considering the talent around him.
But my overall point was, it takes PGs a bit to develop. They are learning how to run an NBA PLUS work on their own game.
How about Elf vs. M. Smart?? same draft year. Elf is actually a full year younger than Smart. Or Exum?? Elf is only 6 months older than him.
