Re: The Trade Thread II
We'd better also be getting a pick,
Reggie's next 3 years are for 16M,17 & 18M.
DJ's at 7.5M for each

Yes. Pistons would be shedding the contract...clearly they don't think he's worth that money anymore.

Either RJs knees are busted up more then we thought or we are adding a pick in this. I would add a 17 second at most.

Having a true pick and roll point guard would be interesting.

I would rather let Jeff Green walk this summer. Reggie Jackson is not the long term solution to our PG issue. I prefer drafting a PG in the draft.

There is no guarantee that we are gonna be in a position to draft Fultz, Ball or Smith Jr. Then you look at free agency and everyone has their eyes on Holiday. Who imo is gonna stay in Nola. However convincing a solid starting PG like him to sign with us is gonna cost us damn near max money. Are we prepared to give Holiday 20 mil per season? I think not.
Then you got Bledose. Who is a realistic target but would cost us picks, EP and someone else. He is obviously the better player but also has a big injury history.
Best case scenario here is do this trade and land RJ. He is clearly playing injured so just sit him for the rest of the year and get him healthy again for next season. If by some miracle we win the lottery then we draft Fultz and trade the spare PGs. If we land outside a top 3 PG, draft Jackson or Isaac and run next season with a healthy RJ, Evan, Jackson/Issac, AG, Vuc.
That is something to look forward to.

We draft Fultz and play him at SG. Fultz reminds me a lot of Dwade.
Winning the lottery will be tough though. I'd be really happy to have that kind of problem.

Re: The Trade Thread II
Wait, this trade is completely jacked up money wise. It is not even close to working.
Would have to be something like
Green/DJ for Beno/Bullock/Jackson

I know most of you want to tank but this is a good trade, we keep payton and get rid of 2 contracts most of you hate, Jackson can still play, he just needs to get healthy

Re: The Trade Thread II
I have been toying with the idea of Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson for Jeff Green and DJ Agustin .Works Salary wise. I'm intrigued by Marcus. I think he's exactly what the Magic want next to AG. He plays like a small forward on the offensive end, and can body Power Forwards on the defensive end.

Re: The Trade Thread II
From the Magic’s perspective, it really only makes sense if Elfrid Payton is being traded in a separate deal. I love the idea of stealing Jackson, but he and Payton shouldn’t be asked to play together. Payton, 22, has had his moments this year, but his lack of 3-point range is a massive problem and he has been yanked in and out of the starting lineup.

Re: The Trade Thread II
I want a pg in the draft desperately but if the Magic finish with the 4th worst record (which is likely imo) they could fall as far as 7th when Fultz, Ball and Smith will be long gone. There's Nikitina who'll be available in the 7-10 range but Jackson isn't a bad option thus allowing us to draft a forward like Josh Jackson, Isaac, Tatum.

Unless Reggie's knee blows up I think his contract would be tradeable. I'm just worried about our draft positioning. Did Jackson actually get surgery? I'm reading he got injections... maybe we can do the trade and get him to have surgery if things are not right with his knee.

Regardless, just make him have surgery. I'm sure they could find something once they got started.
