If the Celtics get Jimmy Butler, I can see the Pacers feeling even more pressure to trade for someone like Brook. If IND gets desperate because they don't want to be left out of the trading foray, it may increase the amount of assets we could get in any potential deal.

Insane to think about how much Billy King overpaid for players like Gerald Wallace and Joe Johnson.

That man will haunt us forever.

Wow. Weren't the Celtics offering the world for Cousins last off season? The Kings gave away Cousins for nothing. Didn't even get 2 1st.

This is awful news for us since the market has been set very low for a scoring big. Maybe the Kings will try and get Lopez now? IDK but it's not good that much is for sure

Kings are just poorly run. I'd rather keep Lopez instead of trading him for packages that call for us to take on salary for more than this season, and picks that will never come to us since they are protected.

It's not even worth it. I can understand top 3 protections. Anything outside of that is outrageous.

Pelicans literally gave up NOTHING for a top 20 player.

I cant see the Nets taking on any unnecessary salary. They have been among the most frugal teams over the last 12-18 months.

I think we need to come to grips with how little value Lopez really has. We might not be getting back anything more then a mid teens pick.

Heild and a first rounder is not nothing.... it is an underpayment for cousins but would have been a STEAL for lopez.

Cousins is better then lopez offensively but then is also an outstanding defender and outstanding rebounder.

if we got that package from the pelicans everyone would be sayong how we ripped new orleans off and they would be right. if we can get anything near that value we should do it without hesitation

I know that defense is pretty sparse in an NBA all-star game but man, yesterday's game wasn't even a game, it was just 9 players taking turns serving as props for whichever other player that wants to pad his stats. I hadn't seen an all-star game in a while but 10-15 years ago, the players would play light defense. Today, the players play zero defense and almost even clear an open path for the offensive player to the basket. It's totally unwatchable.

Yeah i expected to see that for maybe 3 quarters and then guys play for real... thats usually how it is. this was just like warm ups and guys letting other guys dunk. no competitiveness at all near the end. guys chucking up half court shots. brick long threes.

yeah guys used to play exhibition style for 3 qtrs and then it became a matter of pride in the 4th. But that was a different generation of player, who at that time enjoyed competition.

I still remember Jordan's last all star game, he told them all to come ready to play and the game went into two overtimes. These dudes now don't care, and after Durant ran from the challenge of competition to join the guys who beat him, it just speaks volumes in general about the league. That all star game was just as boring as this season has been

This is why coaches should coach, and executives should... execute?

It's sad.

As I've said in other threads, Thibs and SVG are struggling and you have to wonder if they are extending themselves too much by being both tge head coach and the POBO.

I can't blame them for wanting more power and $$$ but it makes you wonder how things would be if they could make the same money but just focus on coaching.

Guess the stories about them not getting along were overblown.

The true story behind that deal would make you pull your hair out. I wasn't there anymore, but my friends still were and what they told me was gross. King didn't want the first rounder cap hit at all so the pick was being traded no matter what.
