Right but do you want to pass up a butler george or even a drummond for a 60% chance of a solid rotation player?
Well in this exercise, guys like Towns, Porzingis and Embiid are considered busts because they haven't made all star teams yet. There are 3 levels here. You could get a franchise cornerstone, a solid role player, or a bust. The odds are about equal each way
I guess that's the thing that makes me not too worried about trading the bkn picks in general. Odds being equal like you said, we have about a 33% chance of landing a franchise cornerstone, but those aren't the only odds that matter. What are the odds that in 3-5 years we have a strong enough team surrounding that franchise cornerstone that we are finals contenders, and then what are the odds that there isn't 1 or 2 teams that have an even stronger team than us. Just seems like, once you factor in the odds of getting said player, putting together solid team, managing salaries/cap space, having good team chemistry, etc., that a lot of needing things to go right just so we can be in the conversation we are almost in now if we add a few more pieces. Not saying I'm convinced or even right, but just feel like now is a good time to go for it.
