DeShone Kizer - QB - Fighting Irish

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch said that Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer "blew the doors off" his interview.

Kizer had himself a rocky final season in South Bend -- he was benched for a very brief time in one game -- but strong interviews could erase any concerns about potential mindset issues. NFL Network's Mike Mayock -- who lists Kizer as his No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class -- has comped the gunslinger to Phillip Rivers. In a fluid quarterback class, Kizer could be drafted as high as No. 2 overall -- or could slide out of the first round altogether. We don't view the latter possibility as particularly realistic, but it is not out of play.

The 9ers are going to be "interested" in a lot of QB options and every QB in the draft is going to be "great" so not buying anything until I see a little more smoke.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Redskins and 49ers may discuss with the Cowboys a three-team trade that would send Kirk Cousins to the 49ers, Tony Romo to the Redskins, and draft picks to Dallas.

Rarely in the NFL do we see player-for-player trades, let alone three-team deals this complex. But RapSheet's scenario makes sense, as Cousins has long been linked to the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan, and Romo was connected to the Redskins as a Plan B last week if they can't get Cousins to sign a long-term deal. Dallas could balk at the deal simply to keep Romo out of the NFC East, but if this is the only way they could get something for Romo, they'd have to seriously consider it.

DeShone Kizer - QB - Player

49ers GM John Lynch said he was "blown away" with Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer's Combine interview.

The 49ers are also reportedly high on Clemson's Deshaun Watson and North Carolina's Mitchell Trubisky. Kizer's draft stock is rising after a shaky junior season and could potentially go as high as No. 2 overall. NFL Network's Mike Mayock rated Kizer as his No. 1 quarterback prospect.

Read Kizer was erratic throwing the ball today and had bad footwork. What the hell happened to him this year?

First mention I have seen of us being interested in Glennon if no Cousins.

Clyde broke into his house the night before to watch him sleep, and he had to call the cops. That'll make anyone tired the next day. :D

Mitch Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

The MMQB's Robert Klemko would "be shocked" if the 49ers select a QB in the first round based on what he has heard at the NFL Combine.

"I don’t think Shanahan wants to go into his first head-coaching job with a daisy-fresh rookie at quarterback—at least, not any one of the daisy-fresh rookies available in 2017," Klemko writes. Based on previous years, if a quarterback is selected in the first round, he will start at least a few games in 2017. If that pick is in the top five, that quarterback is in line for even more starts. Free agency sets up the draft for many teams, and right now the 49ers have no quarterbacks on the roster. The portrait will come together closer to the draft.

I would love this signing. I really think he's better than what people give him credit for.

Last time Glennon was a starter, his team ended up drafting a stud prospect in Jameis Winston. If he starts for us next year, his good luck charm may continue in allowing us to draft Sam Darnold.

Mike Glennon - QB - Buccaneers

ESPN's Jenna Laine reports "there's interest" in free agent Mike Glennon from the 49ers.

This is the first time we've seen Glennon linked to the Niners. He's mostly been connected to the Bears and Jets over the past week to 10 days. If signed as a starter, which we fully expect, Glennon is looking to command $13-15 million per year, which sounds high but would put him in the bottom 10-12 among starting quarterbacks. Glennon isn't much more than a game manager.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins

Appearing on 106.7 The Fan in D.C., the Washington Post's Mike Jones referred to NFL Network's "report" of a three-way trade involving Kirk Cousins, Tony Romo, and the 49ers as "fake."

Jones seems to believe Redskins president Bruce Allen used NFL Network's Ian Rapoport as a mouthpiece to spread the rumor as a misinformation tactic with the Redskins embroiled in front-office drama. Ultimately, the Redskins decided giving Jay Gruden a two-year extension would be better P.R. "Bruce was like, alright we gotta do something because my fake Ian Rapoport Redskins three-way trade thing didn't work to change the story." Jones suggested the Redskins are now seen as so dysfunctional NFL agents are wary of their players signing with Washington because they're unaware of who's in charge. GM Scot McCloughan did not attend the Combine and is expected to be let go after April's draft.

http://www.9news.com/sports/broncos-ready-to-explore-romo-if-released/420167509

If the Broncos were to acquire Romo, Elway figures to almost instantly receive trade requests for Siemian, starting with the San Francisco 49ers. New 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan communicated during his head coach interview with the Broncos he was impressed with Siemian, who is scheduled to make a ridiculously affordable $615,000 this season and $705,000 in 2018 as part of his rookie contract.

Siemian would be a perfect bridge to Cousins.

Tom Savage - QB - Texans

According to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline, some around the league believe that if the Texans acquire Tony Romo they would then trade Tom Savage to the 49ers.

This is pure speculation from people Pauline has spoken with, but it's an interesting nugget. If Romo lands in Houston, the Texans would then be forced to keep Brock Osweiler as the No. 2 due to a glut of guaranteed money left on his deal. Savage likely would be upset as the No. 3 and could ask for a way out of town. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported back in January 2015 that then-Browns OC Kyle Shanahan was extremely high on Savage and wanted him in Cleveland.

Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

Packers beat writer Bob McGinn spoke with one NFL scout who said UNC QB Mitchell Trubisky is his top prospect in the draft.

"I wanted to compare him to (Brett) Favre but he’s a much better athlete than Favre and he’s faster than Favre," the evaluator told McGinn. Yes, you read that correctly. An NFL scout wants to compare a college prospect with 13 total starts to Brett Favre. The scout then praised Trubisky mobility and called him a Marcus Mariota-type. We can conceivably understand the top overall ranking since Trubisky plays quarterback and a prospect with a quality starter game should be at the top of boards. But he's not Brett Favre.

Mike Glennon - QB - Free Agent

CSN Chicago reports the 49ers, Jets, and Bills have all dropped out of the bidding for free agent Mike Glennon.

We're not convinced the Bills were ever involved, while multiple reports elsewhere suggest the Jets were severely outbid by the Bears. Bay Area reports state the 49ers have "no interest" in Glennon at all. With only the Bears left to bid, it's possible Glennon's price tag drops below his expected $14-15 million annually. All signs continue to point toward Glennon landing in Chicago.
