I doubt he makes it to 29, but if he did somehow OJ Howard would be a NASTY addition to Green Bay's offense.

Clearly the league isn't sold on him. He's getting $6M total then. Poor guy.
Clearly I was wrong on the contract. Usually I'm one of the biggest jerks in the room because I almost always never give the player the benefit of the doubt on character-related issues but he was one I probably would have closed my eyes and given big money to if I needed to/could have. Would be interesting to see what true background work would've dug up on him, if anything.
Could easily see myself wanting to debate this again next year if it's a similar situation.

Packers are signing Martellus Bennett. Interesting.

Well, looks like Pryor has a higher opinion of himself than the league, and he's going to play a prove-it season. It makes me feel somewhat better, as it's unlikely he would have signed with us on a longterm deal anyway. If he can put up another season like the one he just had, a longterm deal averaging somewhere in the $10-12 million range is not out of the question. $15 million is top-shelf WR money. He'll have to finish top-5 to get up there, I'd think.

What's even more scary, they could trade Garoppolo for the Browns #12 pick. Which would put them in position to land an elite defensive player (Foster? Allen? Hooker? Barnett?)

Jimmy Garoppolo - QB - Patriots
Appearing on 97.1 in Columbus, Ohio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Browns won't be acquiring Jimmy Garopppolo no matter what they offer the Patriots.
Schefter added it's not about the Browns' offer; it simply sounds like the Patriots intend to hold onto their promising backup. The Browns have been stockpiling draft picks, potentially as a way to seduce the Patriots into giving them Garoppolo, but it apparently isn't going to work. Another team that was interested in Garoppolo, the Bears, have already moved onto Mike Glennon as their starter. The Browns will need to explore other avenues in their quest for a franchise passer.

Are the Browns a trade option for #2? They have plenty of ammo to take Myles Garrett at #1 and then move back up for their QB.

I certainly think so. If they like Mitch the Bitch then getting to #2 locks him in.

Also the clock is ticking on that front office. They absolutely must head into next season with their QB.

It cracks me up how adamant Schef has been that Pats won't trade Jimmy G. It is starting to look that way though.

If you need another reason to feel old(er) - Doug Free has/was in the NFL for 10 freaking seasons.
I remember him at NIU with Larry English (loved that guy), Sam Hurd (now in prison), and P.J. Fleck (former Niner pratice squad star and now HC at Minnesota).

Re: Around the NFL Thread
After 3 long seasons, Darren Fells finally has left the Cardinals for the Lions.
Never particularly loved him, nor was he particularly productive receiving, but any time he caught the ball I always felt like he was guaranteed 3 yards of just ugly lumbering and then it was like, "Oh crap, now two guys are going to have to bring him to the ground and not get hurt." I might be the only one on the planet that feels that way but that's my memory of him. Dude is/was around '6'7 and 280+ for a TE.
