Not really. If lebron had anything close to a Lebronlike performance miami would have won it easily.

Miami couldn't contain the Dallas penetration and they couldn't stop Dirk late in the game. They also had good smart veteran defenders (Marion, Kidd, Stevenson etc) that did a great job slowing LeBron down. And Carlisle severely out coached Spolestra.

So how did Wade have his way if Miami couldn't penetrate? .

See you're having a hard time even comprehending what I wrote.

Read it again.

I said Miami couldn't stop Dallas' penetration.

While this is more of a cool gesture than anything, KP needs to really work with someone like Dirk's shooting coach or a Chip Engelland, Dave Hopla.... some sort of specialist/guru that'll push him to his limits nonstop. Idk, maybe his old coaches from Sevilla may really help him a bunch

First and foremost, KP needs a work out regimen that continues to improve his upper body strength. He doesn't have to show up looking like a UFC fighter, even though I wouldn't oppose it.

He NEEDS to work with Hakeem Olajuwon. Develop post moves AND interior defensive positioning. Even if he absorbs 15-25% of Hakeem's knowledge that's 70% better than most of the NBA. NO ONE teaches interior D anymore.

As far as his shooting is concerned, I think he'll be fine. That part of the game needs refining but the Knicks NEED this kid to add interior skills so Hernangomez isn't left to fight off 4 guys for a rebound.

Reason why I have faith in KP, he has a work ethic so put him to work.

Yup. Not only that, Dirk developed this killer move as a result of people respecting his fadeaway so much. He would pivot back, and drive hard, leaving the defender frozen.

If KP developed that move, with his athleticism, it would be unstoppable.

One of the things I remember about this series was how much Dallas truly utilized Dirk's ability to create mismatches. Miami was a good defensive squad too, but Dirk is just one of those players that its hard to decided whether to guard him with a big or a small. On that final play there Bosh looks like he is draped all over him and has more than enough quickness to stay with him, but the threat of Dirk's fade away opens up the entire lane for him. These are exactly the kinds of moves KP needs.

I never was one who called Dirk soft but I gotta say, he made a legendary leap in that series, which happened to be his peak. After that Dirk started deteriorating but for that series the guy was godmode. I saw post moves, mixed in with face the basket moves multiple times in that series. He just refused to be stopped, thats what it comes down to. It wasn't even like calculated moves, it was more like pure killer instinct and his mind just took over matter. I feel like Bill Walton saying that but Dirk just went nuts after dudes made fun of him being sick. I loved it.

KP needs the move but like I been saying, he's gotta get stronger just off the skilllset he's got right now. Over the course of about 4 seasons he could develop those moves. First focus on having your few moves and going ham in them, that requires some level of confidence you can go through a brick wall. Kp needs to hit the weight room.

Kristaps Porzingis honestly should work with Hakeem..

Amare was a washed up stiff robot... But after working Hakeem.. Amare was a real threat with his back to the basket. He had actual effective post moves and counter moves..

Kristaps should take Hernangomez too... Willie's post moves are already slick.. Imagine if he learned few tricks from Hakeem.

Yes, quite a possibility. There's also something good inside BnO, which disqualifies him from being "worst."

Do you guys really think Dirk will invest his time to help some guy from another team, while he still plays in the league? And yeah, didn't Cuban already say it will not happen?

I'am pretty sure they just plan to work out together.. Like KP trained with Westbrook, Kanter and probably with some other players too. They just hit the gym together.

KP needs someone to specifically work with HIM, and improve HIS game. I know his brother helped him lot, but this summer he needs some top notch professional tutoring.

During All-Star weekend one week later, before he won the Skills Challenge, Porzingis admitted he had little on-court chemistry with Derrick Rose and that the Knicks had regressed in the triangle.

there's no way he could have. there are no rules against players working out together. they do it all the time. cuban voiced his understandable disappointment in possibly making things tougher for the mavericks. but his comments were tongue-in-cheek.

And KP needs to put on the bulk and play center because power forward isn't for him. Him bulking up and playing center would be an advantage, not a disadvantage.

And Yao has a short career and Dirk didn't. He needs someone like Dirk to help him. Jeff mentioned Karl Malone to which is great.

if karl could teach KP anything... that would be awesome. tough. great post player. also an extremely skilled passer from the post.

maybe he wants an assistant coaching job with his old jazz buddy.

Pretty sure Malone wants to hunt, fish and relax during his retirement. But he's one of a few guys that could work with KP and add more than Rambis or the useless stiffs on staff.

Malone was an elite basket roller in the pick and roll, his ability to shuck his man and get his shoulder past on the switch was top 5 all time. He was also a great mid-post passer. His conditioning was also unmatched. Lastly he was an elite fast break 4, not sure how much of that is technique or effort but there aren't many 4's that attacked the wings on the break like the Mailman. Also how to cave peoples skulls in with an elbow.

The other ones are

Kevin McHale. An elite individual instructor who essentially tutored KG. KGs signature shake into the lane with the high release point? That was McHale, over and over and over drilling him. McHale is one of the 3 most skilled post players of all time, he didn't have elite strength but he had freakish length and amazing balance on either leg. His shot release, like KGs, and like KPs should be, was unblockable. McHale was a black hole though, his passing left alot to be desired. McHale was also a terror on the glass with an elite offensive rebound rate.

Sheed shares alot with McHale (on the court). Had McHale come along later he probably would have developed range like Sheed. His defensive smarts were amazing. Sheed was impossible to strip by smaller guys on the switch because of the way he used his hips as he accepted the post pass. KP right now is catching too close to the defender instead of creating that X between the smaller guy and the ball. Strength will help, but technique is part of it.

From Dirk I think KP can learn about how to draw fouls out of the mid-post, how not to get stripped. Dirk in the high / mid post basically always keeps the ball high, religiously, he gets a shot off or he gets fouled, period. Prime Dirk was also elite at forcing the switch by slipping the screen and mashing the smaller guy into the free throw line area.

Cuban said he was joking. I understand what you mean about Dirk investing his time, but they were actually supposed to train with each other last offseason. So I'm sure him and KP are on pretty good terms already. KP doesn't need to spend months with Dirk. A couple days with Dirk and some strength and conditioning will make KP a better post player.

Porzingis needs to gain muscle this offseason. As much as he can. He should be in the weight room all summer because last summer he did jack. I'm not sure if the Knicks instructed him not to lift weights but the dude looked exactly the same from his rookie season. He needs to become stronger if he wants to become better.

He can work with Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing and it won't make a difference if he is not physically capable. He also needs to improve stamina and defensive positioning to avoid fouling as much.

Baby steps. Work on those things first and the rest will come along slowly.
