Indiana Hoosiers...not Pacers. That is the early talk from IU fans. If so, how does thst impact Westbrook's future?

this move doesnt affect westbrooks future at all

the reason why westbrook stayed with oklahoma is to be the man of the team and get that money

no matter what coach you throw in there they will run plays through westbrook, its how this team is designed

Harden benefited getting a coach that actually contributes to the on-court play. Donovan is replaceable to the Thunder, they should be looking for a coach that perfectly suits Westbrook's offense the way D'Antoni suits Harden's offense.

No, did you see how Indiana treated Tom Crean? Crazy/unrealistic expectations... nobody got time for that.

He should take Christon with him. Good riddance to both of them.

Indiana Hooiser fans are delusional. The first name was Brad Stevens - he was their "first choice" - LMFAO. Now they've moved on to Donovan... After this it's Marshall from Wichita St or Alford from UCLA. Maybe they get Marshall, but as another poster alluded the AD is dysfunctional and it's not nearly the job Indiana fans think it is.

6 tournament wins in 9 years at Indiana isn't enough. The situation at the beginning was obviously unique, but never past the Sweet 16 and an NIT this year? Butler and Purdue have more tournament wins over the same period. Indiana doesn't want to be #3 in the state any more.

Donovan will end up back coaching college at some point. And it will be a high profile job. I wouldn't rule this out.

They gave him 9 years and it was the worst 9 year stretch in school history. And they allowed him time after the first 3 disasterous years. It's not like he wasn't given time and while it doesn't seem fair to you a school like Indiana does have higher expectations than most because of their great history.

If IU found a coach who could dominate in-state recruiting it would be a great job, again. That's because the state of Indiana has a steady supply of pro players and the best coaches to ever walk the earth. All IU has to do is tap right back into the pipeline.

Given the vitrolic criticism that Scott Brooks faced before OKC eventually fired him, in comparison to the pretty good job he has done in Washington. It is also weird to see one of the more highly rated college coaches becoming a 'bust' coach in the NBA too.

Is it an issue with OKC? Or are their coaches simply judged too harshly?

IU can't really outbid an NBA team for a coach. The money is better in the pros. And it's going up at a faster rate. Compare the two icons: Phil and K. Phil makes what K does as a glorified consultant lounging in Beverly Hills 2k miles from his office while K is doing Visa commercials, recruiting trips, and camps just to get to his level. BD and FH just doubled their salary.

Money, ego, competition, legacy... if it didn't matter Stevens would still be at Butler but he isn't.

Books was fired because of bad luck and injuries. If OKC is healthy in '13-'15, they probably win at least one title, or at minimum get back to the finals.

Donovan has done a great job considering the circumstances, I cannot comprehend why people would say he's underperforming. Look at the freaking roster he was given this year.

GM's and ownership don't get enough of the blame, everything falls on the HC.

Honestly to me it seems like Westbrook largely plays the same way no matter what the coach says.

How often do coaches leave the NBA to go back to college? Sure those who failed after being successful in college (Pitino, Calipari) did, but Donovan nearly had the Thunder in the finals, outcoaching the opposition based on the talent they had.

They are probably exceeding expectations this year as well.
