Feel badly for III. He seemed like a good guy and his father is a true revolutionary. He changed the game and in his own way changed society.

JT Jr. was my childhood idol.

Was probably the right call for GU though. Time to create a new identity.

Bravo to Ewing, he's deserved a shot in the NBA for years now. Georgetown made a great choice.

Good for Georgetown and good for Ewing. It's really tough to learn the recruiting game. The schedule for it alone is pretty crazy. But as an NBA guy, he should be good at traveling. And I have no doubt he's a fine coach.

I'm not a Georgetown fan and don't have a dog in the fight, but I hope this hire works out. I want to see Ewing succeed as a head coach because I think he's a good dude and I don't like the way he gets underappreciated in the NBA world and by the Colin Cowherds of the world.

i like Georgetown and I like Ewing; I hope it works out. That said, it feels as if Georgetown is still a prisoner to '80s nostalgia. At some point, they'll need to come out from Big John's shadow, and Ewing (although qualified) isn't exactly the guy to do that.

I wonder what the AD's goals are for the program in this current college hoops environment -- and whether those goals are realistic.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Well every accomplished alumnus who'd be qualified will have a connection to Thompson.

Saw this thread was started by me ... and was worried, until I read back in 2015. :D

I am very curious to see if Ewing can actually coach.
