It's so dumb that we can't get the announcement of our new MVP before the series starts. If there was one award that needed to be known as soon as the season ended, it's the MVP award. There's gonna be one team that takes it personal that their star player didn't win MVP, and that's gonna bring some more nastiness to this series. If I'm Houston, I'm starting Nene at center. I don't trust Capela starting the game matched up with a fresh Steven Adams, he's gonna get used and abused. I'd rather bring in Nene as a starter to match up with Adams in the strength department, and give us some more toughness on the floor with Patrick Beverley.
I really want to see Westbrook and Harden play against each other the day after the MVP winner was announced and one wins and the other comes in second. That's gonna lead to some compelling storylines by the end of the series. At some point in the series, the loser is gonna take offence that they got overlooked for MVP and that's gonna lead to a memorable moment for a generation of fans. We might even see Harden and Westbrook play defense for the first time in five years. This could so easily turn into Iverson vs. Carter, but just way more important in a historic sense. The NBA is really missing out on a goldmine opportunity that only comes once once in a generation.
