Wizards would be wise to shut up and stop talking about physical play or the officials.

I agree its time to shut up and realize that the refs paid the wiz back for that MMA talk!

According to NBA TV, the league sent both teams a memo before the game. When you're on Silver's radar, you done messed up.

Kinda hilarious Milsap had that much influence over how tight the refs were going to call this one. If the Wizards actually have a game where they play well (Don't foul) then they should have a blowout W sooner then later.

Yeah them we done messed up...cause Wall never gets calls going to the rack and our whole damn team almost fouled out in the first quarter.

Ugly game. I thought after game 1 refs cannot be worse. Surprise surprise the can! :)
Need to sweep them and rest before Bulls series.

I think it had more to do with the Wizards players statements in response to Millsap. This ain't the penal league. If you sound like you're going to go out there and hurt people, the commissioner is going to step in.

Today Morris played 20 minutes and had only 4 points. Otto Porter only played 23 minutes and had only 4 points. Both of those guys can play much much better. If the next round is Wizards Bulls, it will be very interesting to see what the style of game will be. The only chance the Hawks have is to make the game ugly. If the Bulls try to get out and run with the Wiz, it might favor the Wiz, but it will certainly be interesting.

Against better teams, fouling that much will catch up with you.

It's caught up with us now. We barely pulled this game out. They did cut down the fouling in the 4th quarter, and they haven't played like that the entire year so I'm not super worried but it is concerning.

Sucks we weren't able to take either of these winnable games. The Wiz will probably shoot lights out the next time they're home if we make it that far. Unfortunately this is our normal shooting.

Give credit to soft, washed, buster-ass piss-baby Paul Millsap, I suppose, for successfully whining this series into unwatchable whistle-ball, for that is all he accomplished. Despite the referees doing everything short of hogtying D.C.’s frontcourt on his behalf, his Hawks, entering the final days of their 71st consecutive season as basketball’s least-existent franchise, folded up like a convertible sofa in the fourth quarter and fell to the mighty Wizards, 109-101.

When it mattered, they had nothing whatsoever for the extremely cool and handsome John Wall and Bradley Beal, because they are the softest chumps who ever crawled the surface of the earth. Maybe Millsap will have better success griping his way into a suite upgrade in Cabo San Lucas next week.

Ouch. A lot of pressure on Atlanta next game. Seems everyone is blaming them for the whistle fest. Granted, this is written by a Wiz homer.

 The only ones complaining about the officiating are wizards fans on the general board. The Wizards didn't call out the refs after the first game. That would be the Hawks. And Brooks even acknowledged that it was the Wizards fault that the Hawks went to the line 39 times, yet we're still the one getting jobbed so GTFO.

Wall told the media there was basically a no layups rule in effect and then Morris said this:

"Just see where he's at now," Morris said, according to The Washington Post, in response to Millsap's comments after Game 1. "I guess if that's MMA, then what we do next might be double MMA."

"They said we [were] wrestling so I guess they don't have a choice but to come out and play tougher," Morris told reporters at the Wizards' morning shootaround, according to The Post. "It is what is. We ain't going to stop our intensity because of what they say. We're going to keep playing as hard as possible and playoff basketball."

NBA TV reported that the league sent a memo to both clubs after that.

So interesting little stat I found on the NBAWOWY

Lilliard and CJ are talked about as an explosive offensive duo and they are

114.7 ORTG when they're together on the court or a (+6.4)

However Wall and Beal on the court together are putting up a 115.9 ORTG (+7.5)

Wizards won, but this was an awful basketball game to watch.

71 combined free throws on 55 fouls, this isn't what gets people excited about NBA basketball.

Paul Millsap is straight up bitch made with this soft comments after game one, a game that wasn't even all that physical to begin with and had them at the line 39 times.

Granted, Washington didn't do themselves any favors yapping about what they were going to do on the court to anybody with a mic, but the leagues reaction to all of this, way over the freaking top.

How did anything that happened in game warrant a memo and more importantly, such a piss poor job by the referees?

Post season free throw attempts is 23.4 a game and the Hawks averaged 24.9 for the season. They're at 38.5 FTAs right now, a full seven attempts ahead of the Rockets that led that category with 26.9 for the season and are at 31.5 in postseason play.

I'm sorry, but this is bull.

Refs are out of control. If they called the games fair it would be two blowout Wizards wins. Hopefully in Atlanta the refs will start doing their job so the Wizards can sweep.

Gortat is winning his matchup with Howard somewhat decisively, not what I expected from him going into the series.

Marcin Gortat had a terrible second half of the season by his standards and saw his minutes cut when Mahinmi came back. Perhaps those fresh legs are paying dividends now.

Atlantas problem is that Schroeder and Millsap are their 2 best players and they play great when Jennings, Oubre, or Smith, Gortat are on them but they don't do anything when Wall or Morris are on them
