It was business decision, because Melo was 5th or 6th in fan voting?
ASG is exactly for random ppl (which barely watching NBA). Most of fans (regular - watching hundreds or thousands game per season) didnt even watch this show this or last year cause this is circus for random ppl not basketball.
So yes - still almost same scenario.

Because the 13th man in the ASG brings in so much attention?
Please, it's not even close to the same thing

Yup, especially "random NYK fans from NY which dont even know who the hell Ron Baker is(for example)".

But what we talking about. Using "ASG selected" argument was just stupid in Melo case. Its obvious, right?

Yeah, using Melo being an all-star this year is a dumb argument for his trade value
But saying it's the same thing as Kobe being in the all-star game last year is equally dumb

In this discuss actually made sense.
Kobe and Melo (basketball reasons) shouldnt be even close to ASG selected. [yes Kobe was much worse, but i thought that he would be good example for mpharris to understand that ASG selection for Melo means nothing to his trade value].

So move on.

Is Melo consider a ring chaser if he was traded to a contender since he list a bunch of teams he is willing to go?

Melo is literally the very definition of an anti-ring chaser. If everyone left him alone he'd be happy to just kick it in NY.

you're a contender or you suck which is why he stayed in New York.

Cavs, Warriors, Spurs.

There's not a team thats a Melo away from being in that discussion, maybe a Melo + something else but for example him becoming a Clipper doesn't change the fact that Doc is the coach and the depth wouldn't be there.

I still think Miami is the best trading partner for Melo, regardless of what Pat the Rat might of said. Riley is known for saying one thing and then doing the exact opposite of what he said as soon as it became convenient.

Would Miami want to dump Chris Bosh's contract..? I see that Miami is not very interested in building through the draft.. But would they want Carmelo Anthony ..?

I think his contract is going to come off the Heat cap.

If we take McRoberts back they could potentially have the same team that went on the winning streak last year, but Melo instead of Dion Waiters who played well but also only played in 46 game total for them and might get a very large contract from the 76ers to play for his hometown of Philly.

Melo is a 2 year contract, so its not to long of a contract if it doesn't work out, though I think that lineup fits exactly what Melo needs to thrive, a PG like Dragic who can get easy transition points so Melo can score easy 3's as a trailer and in the half court Dragic can be a reliable a 3 pt shooter Melo can pass to if he tries to post up. A defensive center like Whiteside that would keep opponents from driving pass Melo, so all Melo would have to guard against is opponents shooting. Hell even James Johnson works with Melo because he can guard the better opposing Wing player and Melo can play PF on offense and SF on defense if he wants. Short term the Heat win that trade by a mile and should be a mid to high seed playoff team. Also add in all the perks from living Miami and the storyline of Melo going there and playing against both Wade's Bulls and Lebron's Cavs games will be must see TV. Melo would likely thrive there and Riley probably knows that. Its just Riley is also a liar, which makes him a good poker player. Though he did say he was open to trades to make the team better.

#14, Winslow and McRoberts on the other hand could in the long term work best for the knicks. Winslow offensively is.... tragic, but he is a good defender and passer. If he can develop an outside shot he is as good a 3&D player as you can ask for in the triangle due to his passing ability. He is young enough maybe that he can become better offensively and he'll see minutes at starting SF as Melo's replacement. As for Pick 14 its not great (Riley called it a purgatory pick I believe) but its another asset to either draft or possibly flip into a future 2018 pick or another asset. McRoberts would be another Big to spell Willy and KP through the season and might make Kyle a little more disposable for a separate trade. If the plan is to rebuild for the future it could really pay off in 2-3 seasons.

I think in the end we'll be doing a trade with the Celtics. Crowder is a guarantee to be a Knick by the end of all of this.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Boston was dumb as **** not to make a run at Carmelo, it effectively lets you make a run at a Championship while rebuilding for the future. it's a 2 year deal with a opt out after 1, and we would not be asking for the moon. Ainge flat out **** up.

Haven't seen either the first two Chicago-Boston games. Is Grant really playing well? Who would have thunk it? Obviously, if Boston loses, they have more of an interest (although who they draft with the Nets pick may change that view).

If we trade him, we need to trade him west. What about the Spurs?

I can think of a couple reasons:
While George may be the better player, they would have to trade more to get him (as you said, BKN pick, which will be likely top 3), whereas Melo will come cheap asset-wise (probably Crowder, Rosier, and a late first/one or two of their seconds)
PG would have a high chance of leaving for LA after next year, as that's where he wants to play, and the Celtics can't offer him the supermax due to not drafting him, so there's less incentive money-wise to stay in Boston
If PG does stay, he will be super expensive, like, really expensive. Plus, he'd be up for a new contract the same offseason as IT, meaning management will have to choose between the two

Just what I could think of off the top of my head, I don't really know if that's how Ainge sees things

Any Chance Melo goes to the Bulls. He would have a lot of vets around him, and with the way they are playing now they could be real contenders with a lineup of Lopez, Melo, Butler, Wade, Rondo.

Ainge will swing a deal for Carmelo IF he strikes out in FA, which is a distinct possibility because even though a FA might see himself as putting them over the top, I think the draw of staying home for more $ as long as the team is decent will win out
