Time for Harden & his gang of Superstars to hand Westbrook another L. Hope this is a sweep.

It is when you're trying to pin a 4 point loss on a nine point swing in the 3rd quarter (that still left them with a 3 point lead)
instead of the 18 point swing in the 4th quarter that left them down 10.
No matter how you slice it the immutable fact is the Thunder blew an eight point lead in the 4th with Westbrook on the floor.
Now on to game 3.

Yeah, two 10-0 runs in the fourth with Westbrook on the floor in which the team combined for 0-for-11 and Westbrook himself went 0-for-6. But lets indeed blame it on the 3-12 run in the third quarter where the team went 1-for-4 and the opponent 5-for-5.

Regardless of who whether Harden or Westbrook wins MVP, has any former MVP in NBA history played with more talent then Kevin Durant has?

Fact is that momentum in games is a real thing, while not tangible itself, you can tangibly see the effect it has when teams are on runs and how it can dramatically effect the outcome of games when you can generate any momentum.

Westbrook fined $15,000 for his comment in the press conference.
Wonder if anyone will say anything fine worthy after tonight's games?

No matter how you slice it the immutable fact is that 8 point lead was directly impacted by all the points socred and given up prior to that point. Bench plays better, Russell always re-enters the game with a double digit lead. To say points scored in the 3rd quarter are "irrelevant" when they contribute to the final score is comical
Now on to game 3

Combine that with the run given up with Semaj on the court in the 2nd quarter & Westbrook's units would have had to outscore Houston by 16. Incredibly unlikely. You can't win when you go to your backup point guard for brief stretches and his units are cumulatively getting blown away by 15 points.Mazter wrote:BallerTalk wrote:RatherUnique wrote:It's not "irrelevant" or "disingenuous" when every single point scored and given up contributes to the final score

You just can't look at points that way in a basketball game. It is a game of runs. Maybe the Rockets play harder in the second quarter if the Semaj run doesn't happen. Maybe the Thunder ease up some if the Semaj run doesn't happen. If you are on the court in the 4th up 8 you are in a great position to win.

I don't know why people are getting on the bench players....they're bench players....for a reason. Then Houston is the 3rd...Thunder are a 6 seed. Are we going to get pissed at the Blazer bench if they give up a lead over the Warriors? Are we getting pissed at Paul George and the Indy bench losing a 26 pt lead? What if Memphis' bench had given up the lead to the Spurs, who gets the blame then?
Houston is a better team, with better players. But the stars make the difference in the playoffs, it has always been that way and it always will be that way. I mean I don't think the Thunder is going to be given Roberson or McDermott a max contract anytime soon, so what are people really getting upset about......

I think it's all the blame shifting that people find most perplexing.
When your team loses an eight point lead in the 4th quarter during which your star goes renegade solo taking more shots than ANY player in ANY quarter in NBA history but you instead choose to blame the loss on the bench for something they did in the 3rd quarter, people are going to call bull.

Game 3 can't start soon enough. Hopefully the Rockets will start off strong and finally win a 1st quarter. With the MVP news out maybe Harden and the Rockets will have some extra fire and finish the series tonight.

Which is why KD or Curry might not ever win an MVP again as long as they're on the same team.

I get the sense that OKC will completely blow out the Rockets in game 3. The game won't be close by middle of the 3rd quarter. You can quote me on this later.

I have a feeling this will happen. Thunder have their backs against the wall and are playing at home with that loud crowd.
Rockets probably won't be taking this game as seriously as Thunder
