It just doesn't add up.

He fractured it Tuesday during the game, but the news only comes out now that its fractured? So it takes 3 days for him to realise its fractured or to get an MRI? The Bulls haven't disclosed that he's out 4-8 weeks either which is the typical timing. I have a feeling he's going to play tonight, but the Bulls want the Celtics to plan for the Bulls like he's not going to play.

I just really don't understand how they rule he has a broken thumb 3 days after the injury took place.

I broke a finger very recently playing ball. I thought I had just jammed it, shook it off and kept playing. It hurt but it didn't effect my game too much. A couple hours later it had swelled up and was way more painful. I spent a couple days icing the hell out of it without any improvement before getting an x-ray that revealed the non-displaced fracture. When you first do it and it doesn't at all seem like a big deal you dismiss it. He probably didn't even bother telling the staff about it until it hadn't improved a day later.

Yep - a lot of injuries get masked by adrenaline. A friend of mine broke several ribs playing football in the park, kept playing and didn't realize it until he coughed the next morning and almost passed out from the pain.

Home crowd will help Chicago but hard to overstate how bad Grant and MCW were last game and how many problems Rondo caused IT on both ends.

Boston has a very real shot at getting back in this.

Get back in it, yes. Win it, doubt it. It was the same thing last year, teams double down on IT and no one else steps up.

This post is completely backwards. Mcw is a great defender but is one of the worst offensive pg's I've ever seen...

It completely changes the series.

Chicago could still win obviously, but without Rondo I think IT is about to go off.

This and the Gobert injury just make me sick. Rondo led the team even though he didn't necessarily play well game 1, but he defended IT and made life tough on him, and then he explodes in game 2 looking like a smarter vintage Rondo and now he's out indefinitely. Wow I can't stand injuries come playoff time.

Sounds strange to me too. Hope it's not them DNP'ing him again w/o coming out and admitting it. The whole situation w/ him and Bulls has been bizarre this season.

Part of the game. I'm not sure IT is going to go off after missing all practice for his sisters funeral. Feel bad as Rondo was killing it. Completely controlled the tempo of the game on offense and defense.

Hah... then tell me which of these two scenarios is more likely....

1.
Rondo: Hey Doc, my thumb hurt during practice today.
Doc: Hmm, I see some swelling, better take an x-ray.

or...

2.
"Hey, let's fake a Rondo injury and tell the press to throw off the Celtics game plan"

You think he's a good defender? I didn't think so, but it's hard to tell from this season on the Bulls as he hasn't really played all that much and, to be honest, outside of the playoffs I haven't watched him that much this year.

His offense is a stretch I know, which is probably why he wasn't playing that much.

Either way, they'll miss Rondo big. He stepped it up in game 2, looked good.

People saying Rondo played with a broken arm probably forgot that he was playing literally with one arm. If it weren't for a dirty move by Wade, that series would have gone further than 5. Don't expect Rondo to play even though he's one of the toughest sob in the game.

He did it in-game swiping at Olenyk, apparently.
