I think we would of went a much better direction with that pick..... Though it does feel good to say Willy was the better rookie.

You can safely judge a draft pick after 3 years in the NBA...

Some young players take much longer to develop their game and become comfortable in the NBA.

He's solid, he played great during that 4th quarter in our must lose game against them.

Whoever the Raps pick and how he turns out shouldn't matter at all to us. It's the process that we need to focus on, not the result.

The Raps could have drafted my balls with the 9th pick and it still would have been dumb for the Knicks to deal a pick that was sure to end up at least at the tail end of the lottery for Bargs.

We should evaluate in terms of the value of the asset when the deal was made, whether that asset was a pick, a player, an exeption or cash.

The Knicks dealt a first round pick in the hopes of adding a player that could give us some scoring punch onto a team that had already reached its ceiling. Bargs couldn't have helped us be any better than we already were. Our front office and ownership got fleeced.

That's part of the reason I'm still a PJ supporter. Regardless of how you view most of the moves he's made, the one thing he hasn't done is make a dumb deal that's jeopordized our future. The Bargs deal set our rebuild back a year or two. There's a good chance the Knicks could have selected either a solid role player or used that pick in a deal to net us a nice young player from somewhere. Or hell, even packaged it with Melo for a legit top 3-5 pick or something....who knows.

Sorry to rant, I know that's not what this thread is about. Just makes me angry to this day.

So are you trying to justify the Bargnani trade? Because that's what it seems like you are doing.

The only thing that matters is that we gave up that pick for trash. Who Toronto picked is of no consequence to us.

Don't really care.

Watching them get flayed by the Bucks is awfully enjoyable though.

The ensuing meltdown on their board and photoshopped memes are absolutely hilarious too.

One thing we have to give Phil credit for is not trading away any draft picks. Every GM we've had has always traded away our picks to get players to win now with and Phil held off from doing that when talking trades with other GM's and they're asking for our picks in trades.

Hard to judge a rookie when he's behind a couple of guys and is on a perennial 50 win team. Gotta give it a few seasons.

Doesn't change the fact that we traded a first round pick for a guy they were dying to get rid of.

Not sure why we went this route in the first place. Melo at the 4 was killing it for a season+. We just saw Felton and JR crumble in the playoffs. We could of probably gotten Lowry or Derozan at that time for that package if we had a good negotiator.

Well, according to some on here, the Knicks have replaced Bargs with Porgs...

So both teams in a trade can get screwed in the end is the lesson we can learn from this?

1. Knicks shouldn't have traded those pieces for Bargs. Dumb deal. Like Rose, a bastardized answer to their problems.
2. Even in that weak draft, Poeltl didn't really make sense for the Raps. He's kind of a not quite as good version of Jonas, imo.

3. All that said, Knicks used that 4 mil of space gained from the Bargs deal on KOQ. The initial trade sucked donkey balls but if you look at what each team still has from it... long term KOQ > Poeltl. Dunno what became of those 2nds. Presumably to Philly..
4. **** the Raptors
BAF Clippers
PG: CP3 | SGA
SG: SGA | Big Ragu
SF: J Brown | Dorture Chamber
PF: Gordon | Niang
C: Capela | Sharpe

Deep Bench - Forrest | Oladipo | Fernando | Young | Svi | Cody Martin

Seriously...

Poeltl has awesome footwork on both sides of the ball (including guarding in space on defense, which is HUGE). I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses going forward, because he has a damn good base set of skills to work with on both ends of the court.
