It's also why Pacers was able to hang around (stay close; 110 ORtg) with the Cavs even with a big disparity in talent.

The Pacers were able to hang close because Cleveland's defense is garbage.

Lebron's game 2 stats: 39 Pts, 6 Rebs, 4 Ast, 3 Stls, 2 Blks, 10/14 FGM

Nothing fake about a team with the 3rd best player of all time.

The Cavs getting stomped in the Finals this year will be a nice reminder that you can fake it to a championship by just having shooters and a terrible defense.

LeBron is the ultimate trump card though. I don't think the Cavs even get past Boston because of their poor defense but I wouldn't be surprised if the beat them or GS just because of LeBron.

Hung close for a sweep.

Having Lebron on your team is a bigger single factor than anything else.

But yeah.. GSW's D is really impressive. Because of Zaza and Draymond? Elite D not because of a rim protector C is impressive

My point is that disproportionately dynamic offensive teams RARELY (if ever) win titles. You need to be playing defense at a Top 10 rate in addition to being great offensively and having a collection of stars.

LeBron may be the human override button, but he did lose in 2015 with the 18th ranked defense. This year's D is even worse at 21st. And Golden State is even harder to guard, while still having an elite defense.

The Cavs are such a longshot for the title. If LeBron somehow wins it this year, he seriously needs to be considered the GOAT.

Right now I have LeBron 2nd all time. If he beats Golden St I'm moving him to the greatest player ever.

Weren't Irving and Love both out two years ago?

Who were the first two?

MJ and Kareem. The drop after those two is pretty steep. Beating this years GSW will put Lebron in the conversation with them.

Adding up a player's MVPs, FMVPs, and Rings is a pretty good measuring stick to start off with. Lebron winning this year will add two more to his total, putting him in a very rarefied group. He will reach 2nd 3peat Jordan status in the media if he pulls it off, especially with Space Jam 2 coming out.

Lebron is the best player to ever play basketball in the NBA. And I have been a Lebron hater for the vast majority of his career. The way he single handily took over the Finals last year turned me around on him. And just watching him, the way he is just smarter than any other player on the court is just amazing.

This is sort of the limitations of Gobert. He's an astounding defensive player, however offensively, he may make the simple shots more efficiently than most, but if they're not giving him those simple shots then he's not scoring.

I think that he is the only defender at the center position that is really as good as Embiid.

He's robotic on offense.

Doesn't matter. I think I read a stat that he has the highest offensive efficiency of any player in the league and the the 2nd best defensive efficiency of any player. Dude is a monster and so perfect.

Oubre became my favorite non-Sixer in the NBA today. Loved when he shoved Olynyk to the ground. That was freaking awesome.

Yeah, Gobert offensively.... blech. He's an excellent defender, but his offense is pretty much 3 feet and in. I don't think I've ever seen Gobert shoot a jumper.

Thats why its my belief that Jazz wont be elite as long as they put Gobert with that much importance. It's just my subjective gut feel.

Jazz plays bad to worst offense with Gobert on court this series against Warriors.

I'd rather spend that money with a perimeter scorer and a cheap Noguiera or Dedmon.

He does, taking 7.7 fga per game, which isn't a lot. If he was asked to do anything besides take those shots then his efficiency wouldn't be that. He is a stud and it's the only issue I have with him, that on offense, he can disappear for stretches - which is surprising.

I've always found it interesting to look at his shot charts, in 4 years he's attempted 25 shots outside of the paint and has made 4.
