30 games into the season, who would've thought that Pillar and Smoak would be our two top hitters lol. Hopefully they can keep it going. If we do decide to rebuild, we could get something decent back for both these guys since they're on cheap deals (especially Pillar).

Pillar is ninth in the AL in batting with the most ABs of anyone in the top 30. His WAR is up to 0.8.

I don't want to jump the gun but the Jays are only 9 games below .500 and 5.5 games back from the wildcard. I think the Jays are just playing rope-a-dope.

Until they get healthy - Donaldson, Tulo, Sanchez and Happ - it's hard to say they are just playing rope-a-dope and have a playoff shot. They still have to do more than win a single series, otherwise they are just clipping along at a .333 clip.

I was saying in another thread...all it takes is 1 or 2 three or four game win streaks and suddenly you're 2-3 games back from .500. My fear was that the thinking up top would be "Oh, they're getting it together now, no need to blow it up and make moves after all" which is typical of so many Toronto sports managements we've had.

Just to be clear I'm being unbelievably sarcastic. I hope the team wins because wins are more fun than losses but I'm fully on board with the team being bad and rebuilding.

I would really like it if our commentators didn't try and force a narrative that players are coming around off the basis of a single hit. They were going on that hard yesterday with Devon Travis over a hard hit ball that should have been caught. He's hitting .160 in May.

Colby Rasmus might be looking more Amish than Adam Lind during that phase he had.

Looks like we'll fail to achieve our second multi-game winning streak of the season.

I guess Grilli isn't any better in non-leverage situations.

We're the worst team in baseball through 30 games. 10 GB of the Yankees. 9.5 back of the Orioles. 6 back of the Red Sox. 5 back of the Rays.

It's only a matter of waiting for the chance to blow it sky high, methinks. Barring a miracle this is not a recoverable position...tanking is of limited utility in baseball, but it's time to hope that we suck long enough to guarantee that we will move the vets in a couple months.

The Jays need to lose for a few more weeks just to ensure they don't get false aspirations if they go on a 7-10 game win streak. After that hopefully the bats all start heating up songuys that should have trade value like Bautista are worth something on the market. I doubt anyone is going to pay value for a guy hitting sub 200

If we are going to get any value for Bautista, he better start hitting soon. LIke Idnk said, noboby is going to pay value for a guy hitting sub 200.

Also, what's up with the injuries to JD and 2Lo? Seems to be taking longer then expected.
