I would love to package Batum with our lottery pick and another player for a all-star level scoring wing to pair with Kemba.

it is not like that you guys didn't know Nic's persona ... but you had to pay him or somebody else would pay him... his talents are there... he isn't far off last season's level... it is more of you expect him to perform like what he was paid, but you knew the chance for him to step up is not great...

a player like Lin is just the opposite... he might not be as talented, but he would always give you all he has

That guy (nba unamed guy) makes me think to that famous alien from Mars i spoke to recently...

Anyway, what i know for sure is that down year or passive games from Nic have nothing to do with contract years or money since it's what is implied here. For his first big contract, the next two seasons after were pretty good (especially the beginning of the first which was matching the beginning of Lillard with the blazers). The first season in Charlotte came after a trade where the staff brought him here
with a different role, something he obviously liked. At the same time, he had a pretty bad year with Portland before geting traded (only had couple good games against the Suns and the Clippers from what i recall).

For Charlotte i dont know why he failed this season like this (being a father, the come back of MKG, the long time injury of Cody etc), especially after a promising first season. But he also failed with our national team this summer, and he is aware of having been disappointing to say the least. Pretty sure next year will be a bounce back year, either here or elsewhere.

edit : He officially confirmed he won't play next Eurobasket. Translating his quote (article hereon a french media) :
"That was one of the hardest decision in my life. I am gonna dedicate myself to the Hornets and work on my game. For once, i decided to take a break during summer to focus on myself. My franchise needs me to do it, and so do i, in order to come back to where i should be for this team".

No clue. as long as he does not invest in rap (especially french rap), i won't /facepalm. From watching the vid, this seems to be a masterpiece

Btw, and since i am here, he will invest in Asvel (team located near Lyon in France, whose owner is T. Parker).

Lin's "all" isn't anywhere near Batum. Even last season when Nic was clearly coasting at times, he was still a good player on the court. This is not an apt comparison at all. Lin is a backup PG capable of starter minutes now and then who has to fight to get minutes. Do you ever talk about anything unrelated to Lin?

Gonna go ahead and nip that one in the bud. Lin comparisons are not welcome, let's not go there.

so what. my point is still valid...
I like Nic's game, I might even agree with you that a coasting Batum is still better than a full effort Lin... however, you'd hope Nic gives you Lin's effort, right?
anyway, you guys have the "lin allergy" or the "lin intolerance"...smh
I posted non-lin stuff plenty in the general board, but it was Lin who drew me to your board and your team and truly enjoyed it... and the Bojangles too  ...what else do you expect me to talk about

People on our team. Our reason for not wanting Lin discussion is we do not care to have our board overrun by Lin discussions, which has happened in the past. He is no longer here, we have moved on and made a policy that we aren't going to revisit the endless discussions that occurred last season.

Please respect that decision. As you know, there are many places to discuss Lin's game and approach to basketball.

I posted it the Nic situation a month ago here, just put a sentence of Lin there, who the hell revived the Lin discussion yesterday? where is the Lin discussion overrun anyway? ...
what decision? "Lin" is a forbidden term in this board?
by the way, i talked about plenty about Nic, Kemba, MKG, Cody, coach Clifford in this board and general board...

that's my fault dude, it was on the page so I figured it was recent. Didn't realize it was a month old.

My point stands though. The ridiculous amount of Lin stans on here last year pushed me away from this site for a while, and it's probably the main reason I'm on r/nba first and here second. It got beyond ridiculous. We all got tired of every discussion turning into a "___ vs Lin" discussion when it wasn't even related to the topic on hand. Which is why I attempted to squash it before it became a big deal (not realizing that it was a month old).

End of discussion. Let's move the **** on.

In my perfect world, next season we get another go to scorer to take some of the offensive burden from Kemba and Nic. And then a fresh leg Nic who fully commited to our team, without spending his whole offseason with the national team, could put some of his energy and effort to the defensive end.

Nic needs to starting earning his paycheck again. I think he plays better next year with the summer in Charlotte.

Batum has a sick 3 mil house in Lake Norman, but he can't spring for a nice goal at his house? Rollaway baskets are the worst. Have some respect for the game and put that **** in some concrete.

Maybe he is a type of guy who doesn't want to bring home anything related to his job.

The Frenchman quite simply plays as if he had made a bet with someone that he could last a full NBA season without ever bending his knees on defense.

So that quote from Lamar's new blog entry about last season's stingerless defense highlights to me that Batum is a problem. Yeah, I luv him for his savoir faire, and even his je ne sais quoi, but he's our $20 Million guy and guys in the salary penthouse ought to play balls to the wall. Maximum effort, as Deadpool would say. Seriously, you can't have the guy who's making $20 Mn+ on your roster be part of the problem.

Who was CHA competing against to sign him? I know at the time people were just giddy that Bats didn't get the max. But really, were there other teams that were gonna give him 20M+? No one else was gonna give him that kinda moula. Right?

Well-done Wade, Parsons and Barnes all got more, and Ryan Anderson only got 2 mil less...I think its safe to say someone would have paid him regardless.

Plus the money explosion doesnt mean that much because the percentage of the salary cap is the same either way...

But yeah, he needs to play better.
