Cordell had a .320 OBP last year in AA. Honestly, just throw out PCL stats when a guy plays in Colorado Springs. It's the same thing with Coors Field. Any AAAA scrub can hit .320 there. Look at the All Star games and career that DJ LeMahieu has carved out there and what Mark Reynolds is doing.

Nice slugging percentage, though.

Yeah, he'll possibly be a piece going forward but he's probably not better than Domingo Santana and we might as well let Santana and Broxton run their course before we move to the next wave.

Santana doesn't have near the versatility Cordell has. He played every position but C and P with Texas. The guy is a legit candidate for ultra utility player - a swing player Stearns and co. seem to love. I understand the comments re: hitting and CS. That's been a talking point for some time. But, I do think Cordell is a legitimately interesting prospect for the first ML infusion in the next 2 years.

He didn't give up a hit until the 4th. 5 + I believe 1 run ball. BIloxi, as mentioned above, has won 4 in a row. Nice to see them go on a bit of a run.

In other news: what a slide by Erceg. Yikes. .214 w/ a .560 OPS. I think our early season 'top 100' chatter is sitting on the back burner for a spell. Coooooooommmme on, mannnnn! I still have high hopes for his talent.

Have to rememebr how him him and Ray are placed. They were just drafted a year ago. The top 100 stuff was definitely premature but these guys have the talent to bounce back once they make adjustments.

Most definitely. We simply need to look toward the improvements of Harrison and Gatewood as testaments to that. In terms of long-term outlook, however, I am looking more at Madeiros. Can he develop? Is he really just a bullpen arm prospect at this point - I lean toward that.

Yeah the Medieros thing is becoming alarming. At this point is he becomes a LOOGY and reaches MLB its a win.

I say that and he goes 5 innings with 1 hit and 6 K's only 2 BB's tonight.

Right? He pitched the meat of the game after Yamamoto gave up 3 early runs. I want nothing more than for Madeiros to become a legit candidate for fringe rotation figure or long relief/left candidate specialist. This season his walk rate has been way down but he's also given up an inordinate amount of hits to raise his WHIP to the 1.45-1.50 zone. After tonight, however, that will go down measurably. Fantastic performance...against one of the weaker teams in High A. We need to see some consistency, imho, to even get excited.

Gatewood with two doubles tonight extending the hit streak to 21. What an incredible season he is putting together at the plate. Cordell also went 3 for 3 w/ a walk. 2 runs and an rbi. They are just dominating this homestand outside the last lopsided loss. Espino continues to have a tremendous year in their rotation. 5.1 scoreless / 3 hits / 2 bb / 6 k's. This is that staff wide excellence I've been surprised by. Blazek came in the 9th gave up a few hits and a run - doing Blazek things - but they pulled out the 4-1 win.

A sweep by our major and minor league affiliates tonight! Biloxi wins their 5th straight, 12th of 15 heading into a 10 game homestand. Exciting times to be a Brewer fan.

I would honestly be entirely OK with giving Wilkerson and Espino extended looks on the big club. Neither are on the 40 but both could be hidden gems (relatively speaking). Gatewood is at an insane level right now. Its time to legitimately be excited about him on a Isan level as we were last season. Another name to be excited about is Garrett Cooper. A first baseman whos 26 we drafted a few years back as a senior sign. He's kind of like Overbay as a hitter. Solid all around. Probably could be a decent PH bat going forward.

Woodruff hit hard tonight. Ponce with a good start and Erceg with back to back good games.

Considering he isnt 19 yet and is raking A ball I'd say so. My other pitching crush Braden Webb was nasty again tonight. Was on a pitch count but went 3 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K. Were going to start seeing Ponce(8 IP, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 94 P tonight), Burnes, and Webb gaining more pub soon.

I believe it is time to start discussing Dustin Houle. He was loved by Counsell in major league camp and he is continuing to put forth good work in Biloxi. Move over Nottingham?

Dubon has been nothing short of fantastic these past few weeks. He is a legit big league prospect. I love seeing the Diaz's and Dubon's rise in the system - makes Villar all the more expendable.

He's now up to 20 stolen bases as well after swiping 2 yesterday in a rare loss as of late. The Thronburg trade is looking better by the passing day.

(Yes I quoted myself) See Below:

Biloxi Press Release:

BILOXI, MS – The Milwaukee Brewers announced the following roster move just prior to Sunday’s game against the Mississippi Braves.

•C Natanael Mejia activated from extended spring training
•INF George Iskenderian transferred to the Rookie Helena roster

Mejia, 24, joins the Shuckers active roster on Sunday from extended spring training. Mejia is a career .214 batter over six professional seasons. He joins a catching unit of Jacob Nottingham and Dustin Houle which has nabbed a league-leading 53% of opposing base stealers. The San Pedro de Macoris, DR native was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Brewers in 2010.

Iskenderian, 23, was placed on the 7-day DL on April 26 and reinstated on Saturday. He had appeared in 14 games for the Shuckers, batting .086 with one RBI. Milwaukee’s seventh round pick in 2015 out of Miami (FL) is a career .260 hitter with six home runs and 45 RBI in 140 games. Iskenderian won the regular-season batting title with Miami in 2015, batting .391.

This is very interesting. We have Feliciano doing very very well in Low A ball as an 18 yo. Houle has been nothing short of stellar in limited (54?) AB's. Both Nottingham and Houle are also throwing out runners at a league leading 54% clip. Given the staff was struggling to get Houle the AB's he deserved and Nottingham below the Mendoza line in more than double the AB's, are we going to see Nottingham moved about the diamond for a spell? Is he moving to a lower level? Who know but it seems a bit strange to add a 3rd catcher to the mix in Biloxi without other motives.

Return to Milwaukee Brewers
