I wouldn't have thought this before the season but he's the leading candidate to lose his rotation spot when Guerra comes back.

Davies can not get batters out if he can't locate his changeup. He doesn't have a good enough slider to accommodate. He relies solely on location and change of speeds. He's left hanging everything just attempting to get it over the plate. The Mets announcers are slobbering over his inability to locate anything to Pulwecky but I think it's quite easy to figure out: his breaking ball is his 3rd pitch and it's fairly unimpressive.

I miss April Eric Thames. He's coming back to earth now, looking very mortal lately.

Davies is giving me Jeff Suppan vibes right now.

Or taylor jungman flashbacks. Not sure what they do with him if he's the guy who guerra replaces. Davies doesn't seem like a good bullpen candidate like say someone like peralta could be. But sending him Colorado if he cant hit his spots is dangerous too because he could spiral even more into badness down there like weve seen with other guys.

Its odd to see a guy who has located so well his whole life just not be able to hit his spots. I wonder if hes hurt or something.

Did you read the Thames article about Braun being his protection? I would love to know if that is true. I've heard arguments both ways.

That might be a small part of it. To me it mostly looks like a natural regression to the mean.

If our bullpen was stronger we might have 28 wins instead of 20. At one point not too long ago there was a stat that we had the lead in 95% of our games

Didn't realise we were above .500. The hitting seems good but man I wish we had a must watch pitcher to get me excited every 5 days.

Got something against hitting? Shaw bouncing back and looking like a hitter might have been predicted, but Thames and the rest are an improbable story. Odds against this team leading MLB in HR six weeks into the season? About the same as what I would quote for Washington winning the NBA championship as they travel to Boston for their Game 7.

Not ready to shop for glass slippers just yet, but it's kind of fun to think about the Cinderella possibilities presented by this no-expectations team that's supposed to be in a rebuilding year.

Wonder if peralta is pitching for his spot in the rotation today. My favorite solution to guerra coming back is them trading Anderson or garza but barring that i think trying willy as a reliever seems like the best option.

It's actually a minor miracle that we're 3 games over .500 with the pitching we're trotting out there. **** Garza has probably been our best starter.
