Mostly because he's raw and moldable with great physicals and a jumper. Poor man's Porzingis is what I see for his potential.

Funny how it played out though. Although its a no brainer to test the waters anyways before making the decision, he probably saw an opportunity that the Raptors had a late first and even if he was not ready, if they draft him, they can stash him at the 905 and develop him...would have been a dream come true. Of all the NBA teams that may take a chance on him even if he's not ready..its the Raptors (being his hometown).

But Raptors likely gave no assurances (and maybe told him he should go back to school) and him and his inner circle and family decided the best thing for him is to stay at least another year. Good on him though. Hope he becomes a college star next year and become a lottery pick.

Agreed, much closer to Ajinca than Gobert.

I actually have the opposite view of him. He has exactly the kinds of tools and skills for the new nba: size, length, athleticism, shooting range. He even has a little vision and passing. A lot of what he brings to the table is pretty rare for someone that size. He also seems like a worker. Mentioned being inspired by DeMar. My only worry is we gave Casey developing him. Casey probably develops Kawhi into a role player if we had drafted him. lol

I personally don't think DJ will last all that long and I watched a lot of Michigan ball. I do hope he does well and proves me wrong, as he definitely stuck with it and improved quite a bit. Won't be strong as a rebounder, but if he improves his 3 ball even more he could be a specialist off the bench that can play some decent defense, but his tendency to play soft always made me cringe. If anyone thought Stauskas was soft for example, Nik was much more confident and inviting of contact than DJ in college.

before rudy gobert blew up he looked like a poor mans ajinca....

...these players are young with potential so its really hard to tell what they will become in the future

rudy at the same age wasnt much different from Janne..

Im surprised this guy didnt stay in the draft!!!

I dont think we would have went past the nets

thats his home town...nets have the opporutnity to take risks with 2 first round picks

and they could have developed him perfectly because there team already sucks

Apparently he had promises in the 20s but nothing high enough for him to be confident. He was projected 25-40 this year and 10-15 next year. I don't know if thats smart considering usually you drop not go up (Ivan Rabb). But maybe it will workout for him.

Sounds a bit like either scratch and win or waterwitching. He could blow up like Gobert. Well their both French...

Wilson I see a great motor and very active hands. He looks solid and extremely mobile whereas Bolden as an athlete does not look that square on his feet something Demar had shown a lot of before he added strength.

with wilson im dissapointed he didnt do the athletic testing was really curious to see that. would have helped a bit guage his potential to guard the perimeter at nba level

DraftExpress currently has SF Devin Robinson ranked 51st and PF Cameron Oliver 53rd. It'd be great if one went undrafted and Masai signed them outright. Both have 3 and D potential, so it could be a very good value move.
