Mike Williams - WR - Chargers
Chargers first-round WR Mike Williams is not participating in OTAs after injuring his back in the first practice of rookie minicamp.
Coach Anthony Lynn is "hopeful" Williams will return next week, but it's not a given he'll be ready before June minicamp. Williams has been sidelined for a couple weeks now due to what the team is calling "tightness" in his back. In a deep receiver depth chart, Williams is missing crucial developmental time. He's no lock to open the year as a starter.

Evan Engram - TE - Giants
Giants first-round TE Evan Engram has been lining up "everywhere" at OTAs.
According to beat man Dan Duggan, Engram played traditional in-line tight end, in the slot, out wide, and even some H-back. While OC Mike Sullivan has said Engram will be taught to play as an in-line tight end, the Giants' best bet to maximize Engram's skill set is to use him to create mismatches against smaller cornerbacks and slower linebackers. We doubt Engram provides much from a fantasy standpoint as a rookie, but he has some Jordan Reed to his game.

Re: 2017 NFL ROOKIES
The Buccaneers should have never passed up on him:
Dalvin Cook - RB - Vikings
Vikings OC Pat Shurmur has been impressed with Dalvin Cook.
"He certainly caught our eye," Shurmur said. "Very instinctive runner. He’s making good progress." The Vikings also talked up Cook’s pass blocking, a great sign for his chances of getting on the field early. Cook's rookie status has him running with the second team at OTAs, but he's the favorite to lead the Vikings in touches.

DeShone Kizer - QB - Browns
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports DeShone Kixer is "on the fast-track" to winning the Browns' starting job.
Coach Hue Jackson said Kizer has been a "quick study." Kizer is being pushed to get up to speed as quickly as possible. Cody Kessler has been getting the majority of first-team reps, but it's starting to look like the Browns have no plans to slow play Kizer.

Ryan Switzer - WR - Cowboys
Cowboys OC Scott Linehan expects fourth-round WR Ryan Switzer to have a "significant" role in the team's offense.
"His role is significant," said Linehan. "He complements [Cole] Beasley and also gives us some big-time needed depth." Linehan called Switzer a "classic slot receiver." Switzer has practiced with the first team at OTAs with Beasley nursing a hamstring injury. Despite Linehan's comments, Switzer will have a tough time earning snaps as long as Beasley is healthy.

Leonard Fournette - RB - Jaguars
Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said he's been pleased with first-round RB Leonard Fournette's pass-catching at OTAs.
Fournette wasn't asked to catch many passes at LSU (41 catches for 526 yards in three seasons) but he seemed comfortable as a receiver at the Combine and his Pro Day and has kept up the good work at OTAs. Beat reporter Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union only saw Fournette drop one pass during Friday's practice. If Fournette continues to progress as a pass-catcher, he should develop into an every-down back.

Fabian Moreau - DB - Redskins
Redskins signed third-round CB Fabian Moreau to a four-year contract.
That wraps up Washington's draft class. Moreau, the 81st pick in last month's draft, blew up the Combine with top-end elite athletic measurables but has some injury concerns with past serious foot and pectoral issues. Moreau is likely not a candidate to start as a rookie, although that could change if he shows well in camp and/or Bashaud Breeland takes another step back.

Chris Godwin - WR - Buccaneers
Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said third-round WR Chris Godwin "is off to a fast start."
"A couple small mental blips, but the physical stuff is there for sure," Koetter continued. With DeSean Jackson and Mike Evans not participating, Godwin has seen work with the first-team offense, and he is apparently making the most of it. Even so, Godwin will likely need an injury in front of him to return fantasy value as a rookie.

JuJu Smith-Schuster - WR - Steelers
Steelers second-round WR JuJu Smith-Schuster said he has been getting work in the slot.
This matches up with what beat writers have been predicting since the draft. After cutting Ladarius Green, the Steelers lack a dynamic weapon at tight end, but they could help make up for it by using Smith-Schuster as a "big slot" receiver in three- and four-wide packages. Eli Rogers is the rookie's main competition inside.

Jamal Adams - DB - Jets
Jets rookies Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye are working as the starting safeties during OTAs.
This was the expectation after the Jets used their first two picks on the safeties, and both players should immediately add a much-needed playmaking element to the secondary. The subject of trade rumors, Calvin Pryor is working on a side field.

Bucky Hodges - TE - Vikings
Vikings signed sixth-round TE Bucky Hodges to a four-year, $2.55-million contract.
Hodges is a great athlete for his size, running a 4.57 with a 39-inch vertical and 134-inch broad jump at 6-foot-6, 257 pounds, but he is about as raw as they come. Hodges is unlikely to make a fantasy impact this season, but he is a solid late-round flier in Dynasty rookie drafts.

Curtis Samuel - WR - Panthers
Panthers second-round WR Curtis Samuel returned to practice on Tuesday.
Samuel sat out the first week of OTAs for personal reasons, but he is back on the field and making plays. A dynamic weapon who can line up all over the formation, Samuel could earn a sizable rookie role.

Cam Robinson - T - Jaguars
Jaguars signed second-round OT Cam Robinson to a four-year contract.
With projected LT Branden Albert skipping voluntary workouts, Robinson has been working at left tackle. Ultimately, Robinson is expected to slide inside to guard as a rookie, but his future could be at left or right tackle.

Re: 2017 NFL ROOKIES
We should have drafted him when we had the chance, but we traded away the pick:
Carl Lawson - DL - Bengals
The Bengals have been using fourth-rounder Carl Lawson at linebacker.
It sounds like the Bengals want to get Lawson on the field for all three downs and are using him off the line on first and second downs and putting his hand in the dirt as a pure pass rusher on third down. "I think he’s going to be a damn good player," DC Paul Guenther said. "You can do a whole bunch of things with him once he understands the schematics of the defense. It’s a whole new chess piece for us." Lawson slipped in the draft due to medical concerns.

Mike Williams - WR - Chargers
Coach Anthony Lynn acknowledged first-round pick Mike Williams is "getting behind" due to missing so much time with a back injury.
The severity of the "mild disc herniation" in Williams' back sounds increasingly ominous, as the L.A. Times now reports Williams won't resume practicing "until training camp at the earliest." Over the past two seasons, fellow first-round WRs Breshad Perriman (PCL), Josh Doctson (Achilles), and Kevin White (leg) missed extensive offseason time due to injuries. None enjoyed productive rookie years. Odell Beckham (hamstring) was an exception in 2014.

ArDarius Stewart - WR - Jets
Jets third-round WR ArDarius Stewart has been sidelined at OTAs with a thumb injury.
It doesn't sound overly serious, but ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini says Stewart "hasn't practiced much." Following news that Eric Decker will be cut or traded, the Jets are relying on their young players to play early, and Stewart is currently penciled in as the No. 3 receiver behind Quincy Enunwa and Robby Anderson. Stewart could threaten 60-70 targets as a rookie.

Jarron Jones - DL - Giants
Giants UDFA DT Jarron Jones worked with the offensive line at Friday's OTAs.
Jones could be attempting a position change. At 6'6/316, Jones is certainly large enough to play on the O line and may be more valuable as a blocker after showing subpar athleticsm at the Combine (5.33 forty).

Solomon Thomas - DL - 49ers
49ers first-round DE Solomon Thomas has spent part of the offseason working out with former Cowboys and Broncos OLB/DE DeMarcus Ware.
The third overall pick had to miss OTAs due to archaic NCAA rules requiring him to stay in school through June, but he's made good use of his time away from the 49ers by working with one of the greatest pass-rushers ever. Thomas has even decided to change his uniform number to Ware's No. 94. "He taught me some crazy stuff," said Thomas. "His technique is amazing. I was trying to take it all in."
