That irresponsible Embiid tweet could allow Ainge to squeeze another asset out of the deal.

Seems to be a big push all of a sudden. I really hope that terms are already agreed upon; I'm freaking out.

I know about the placard, but it arouses the fan base. If the deal doesn't happen now there's going to be backlash.

The river card has been dealt, everyone is starting to show their hand and the 76ers are still anteing up.
Celtics clearly want Josh Jackson but wants to finesse it by gaining assets while getting him at a lower pick. Why would the 76ers play right into their hands? Bow out now and let the Celtics deal with the Lakers. Multiple teams have Jackson on top of their draft board. Celtics cannot trade out of the top 3 and get their guy.
Think about this for a moment. The Lakers had the 3rd worst record in the NBA. Magic has come out and said he will not go after any free agents this summer and will go after the big fishes next summer. And they reported offered Julius Randle and the #2 pick for the #1. Julius Randle is best or second best player on the Lakers. Russell and Fultz are going to be fighting each other for the ball and shots. As every team gets better, they are going to be worse next year. Thats a top 3 pick in a great top heavy draft.
And if the Lakers move to 1. Lakers Fultz, Celtics Jackson, 76ers... BALL. The perfect player to complement Simmons. Ball is a great facilitator who is not ball dominant. He shoots the 3 at a great percentage, probably the second best shooter in the draft.
How do you trade Ball and Doncic/Porter/Mamba for Fultz? Crazy. Whenever you are in a quandry and have doubts, ask yourself... what would Sam Hinkie do?
And if nothing happens and Josh Jackson falls to the 76ers. You still have moves with the Kings and the brilliant Vivek leading the charge.

If Boston takes Fultz on draft night, then Lakers take Josh Jackson, then Boston is stuck with Fultz--a player they know they don't need? Why would they risk that?
If the Celtics truly wanted Josh Jackson, and are scared the Lakers will take him at #2, then the sensible thing is just take him at #1. No?
They want Jonathan Isaac to fill their massive gap in the frontcourt, and for the Sixers to pay a boatload for Fultz as they move down. Don't fall for it, Bryan.

LongLiveHinkie wrote:I don't get why their board is on suicide watch, the Woj report is plenty fair value. Jackson and Ball are excellent players and Jackson probably fits better. Also the Lakers pick gives them a chance at a stud big man next year, which is easily their biggest need. Or they have more ammo for Butler.
Because after being on the receiving end of one of the worst trades in NBA history (the Brooklyn deal), they might have come to expect this from Ainge. Considering Boston's roster and LA's inability to offer more value, the deal is more than fair.

I'd give BC positive credit for this.
I would be OK with it, too. But Lakers 2018 would have to be at least top 3 protected. You don't give up a #3 overall pick PLUS another #2 or #3 overall pick to move up two spots, especially if you're also giving another future pick. But a #3 and something lower than a #3: that would be OK. (Although I sort of doubt that the Lakers will be bottom-3 bad again next season.)

According to Murphy's Law, if we make the LAL18 top-3 protected, the Lakers will finish third worst and they will lose a spot AFTER the lottery.
Book it.

Re: Sixers deep in talks to get #1 pick for Fultz per Woj
While Boston and Philly may come to an agreement, the trade likely will not be done until draft night, according to Pompey (link via Twitter). In a subsequent tweet, Pompey explains why (Twitter link). If the Lakers draft Josh Jackson second overall, the trade will likely be of no use to the Celtics, who covet the small forward from Kansas.
If this is so transparent, if this is so cut and dried, why on Earth wouldn't the Lakers take Josh Jackson #2 so that they could squeeze us and the Celtics?

Is anyone else praying the Lakers take Jackson and derail this terrible deal?

Think some of you guys are too attached to "assets."
The trade as reported by Woj is more than fair. It's a great consolidation trade for a superstar talent that fits perfectly with this team.
The 2018 LAL pick *could be* Michael Porter Jr. or Luka Doncic, or it could be in the 8+ range. There's a lot of risk there.

Exactly and I don't understand why this is so difficult. If Boston really thought Fultz was a superstar that they could integrate with their roster, they would either just take him or ask for something ludicrous (kind of like what Brooklyn gave them), which obviously would be the same thing as simply not being willing to make a deal in the first place. Unless Woj is just completely wrong (he could be), it isn't going to be the fleecing that Boston fans are hoping for. Just the same, it isn't probably going to be the sweetheart deal that Philly fans are hoping for. I'm not overly concerned about a potentially protected #1 pick in 2021 if that is the last piece. The Lakers pick hurts, but it at least ensures that Philly gets its man and what seems like a perfect fit next to Simmons and Embiid.
At that point, I will actually root hard for the Lakers and hope they begin next season like they ended the previous one, with Ingram continuing to develop and their #2 pick having an immediate impact. On top of that, unlike this season, LA will have zero motivation to tank or drop games at any point next year because their pick is already gone. If Philly makes this deal, here's to hoping that LA makes a big leap next year and puts the pick closer to the end of the lottery than the front of it. If the deal falls apart, I'm hope the Lakers lose 80 games.

Or Porter or Doncic could suck.
