So we can still be worse than the Cavs?
Not seeing the appeal of this flipping picks scenario to people.
All of you people calling 28-29 year old players old need to get a clue. This is the **** prime of their career. Plus we can keep Jaylen and still have 1-2 high lottery picks to add to this roster. This team wouldn't even be close to maxed out. First you take down Cleveland in the next 1-2 years and then its on to GS.
Butler is never going to be as good as he is right now. I'm quite comfortable going on the record as saying that. He's not that skilled. People call Blake Griffin reliant on athleticism but Butler is an undersized SF who relies on his first step, moxie, and getting to the line by taking a beating. He's not aging well and the Celtics are making a mistake if they think he's going to be useful in the post-LeBron era.
George has some appeal going forward, as a small ball 4, and a player who seemingly takes it up a notch in the playoffs. But the Celtics plus George still aren't beating CLE or GS next year, and then you have to pay everyone.
People don't want to admit it but the Celtics are far, far behind their competition right now. And this trade (moving a player in Fultz who is relatively ready for a role, to pick a project) seems like evidence that Ainge doesn't disagree.
