"Super Teams" that could have happened.
Offseason thread.
Name potential moves that could have happened but for some reason missed.
Warriors drafted Curry, Klay, Barnes, Draymond, Ezeli which created the foundation towards attracting a FA in Iggy, and eventually winning 73 wins to attract mega stars.
Were there any other opportunities like this in the past?
The one that quickly comes to mind is the Pistons.
PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Rip Hamilton
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Rasheed Wallace
C: Ben Wallace
Five All-Stars on one team.
Also, Sacramento Kings could have had Damian Lillard paired up with DeMarcus Cousins, which could have been the start of something special.
Lastly, going back to the mid 90s.
Warriors missed out on...
1995: Kevin Garnett
1996: Kobe Bryant
1997: Tracy McGrady
All three players could have been drafted in consecutive years. Kobe was drafted at 13 and T-Mac at 9; and with KG and Kobe being super young it would have been possible for the Warriors to have sucked enough to still be in draft position to get all three.
When Golden State always sucked in the 2000s, I would look back on that missed opportunity in the 90s and wondered what could have been, but luckily they were able to draft their own trio of All-Stars in these recent years.
Oh, and one more...
Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kevin Durant.
I love KD on the Warriors, but as a basketball fan it's obvious the NBA missed out on an amazing trio. All three guys are either an MVP or an MVP candidate.

Rocket's could have had Hakeem Jordan and Drexler back in 1984. 2nd overall + Drexler for Ralph Sampson. Who know's how many titles they would have won.

Basketball reasons. CP3, Kobe, Metta, Dwight. I hate Stern.

Pistons and Lakers agreed to a Rip / Prince / Picks for Kobe trade in 2007, but Kobe backed out.

GSW never deals McHale and Parish for Joe Barry Carroll and instead goes forward with a Bernard King, McHale, Parish front line.

Portland: Durant, Roy, Aldridge. Jordan & Drexler back in the day would have won so many titles.

Warriors Draft Andre Drummond instead of Harrison Barnes
PF Green
SF Iguadalla
C Drummand
SG Thompson
PG Curry
Warriors don't lose in 2016. Team is more defensive oriented
GS has max cap space and goes after scoring hel

Kidd
Kobe was right when he called the Lakers front office out for not trading Bynum for Kidd. Bynum was always hurt in the playoffs and barely contributed while the Lakers with 09 Kidd instead of washed up D-Fish would have been a legit super team.

Looking back I wish that would have happened, I wonder if Artest steal signs with the Lakers or if Ariza never leaves.

the bulls could have drafted karl malone in 1985 who went 13th to the jazz ....instead drafted keith lee at 11 and traded him for oakley who was drafted 9th in 87 the traded for pippen
MJ, pippen and karl malone

Thing about scenarios like that is it's no guarantee the team still gets the other guys so if Chicago gets the Mailman they probably build around him in a completely different way than what happened to eventually land them Michael Jordan. Plus the Sonics trade with the Bulls involving Pippen may never happen either.

Lol Drummond is a pathetic defender, dont be too hard on yourself Barnes is probably a better player than Dre rn
