Thon Maker: Future MVP?
Takeaways from this video:
1. Thon Maker is really good.
2. He's a workhorse. His team actually had to ban him from practice one time due to concerns about him potentially burning out.
3. His teammates respect him so much that they've already given him a leadership role.
Watch out for this guy. He's gonna be special.

LOL, what? No.
I think he'll be a damn good role playing starter who is a good two way player, but anything more than that and I'd be SUPER surprised. I do like him, though.

I've seen nothing that makes me think he'll be a future MVP. Good player sure, but unless you win an MVP you don't deserve (Rose), usually MVPs are reserved for the truly elite like the Lebrons and Currys. Thats a huge step

Did you watch the video? What sets Maker apart from a guy like Randolph is his work ethic and desire to be the best he can be.

I'm an Aussie, so I'm massively in Maker's corner, hope he succeeds, but league MVP? Give me a break.

Obviously MVP is a bit of a stretch. He stated that he wants to be an MVP. His skillset is already fantastic, especially for a 7-footer. He has all the tools to be an all star one day, that's for sure.

He has that explosive skinny body that is filling out very well it seems. Decent form on the shot, great instincts. Just not sure about the killer instinct like what KG had, but that may be lurking in there.
An exciting talent, but easy on the MVP talk, lol.

No one thought curry would be MVP when he was the 7th pick out of Davidson.

Re: Thon Maker: Future MVP?
I've been saying this for a while but the Bucks are contenders to take over the East. People will say they don't have any star power or nobody will sign with the Bucks. But Giannis looks like he's gonna take over as the best player in the Eastern Conference within the next 3 years. Parker and Middleton are some of the better young players in the East and are just a step away from being all-star caliber. The Bucks also started two rookies on a 6th seed, Brogdon is steady and will get beter and Maker has immense potential. Just the Bucks overall length on defense is disruptive to opposing teams offenses and because they are young they will continue to polish out on the offensive end with some nice internal growth.
Maker is the future center of the NBA, someone who can shoot and handle the ball a bit and still switch out on defense. Stretch 5 will become a thing but I think a quick 5 like maker is gonna be the real game changer of the NBA landscape. Similar to what we've seen Draymond do but almost even more evolved with Durant playing some 5.

Re: Thon Maker: Future MVP?
Giannis and Thon are arguably my two favorite non-Warriors players and so I didn't miss more than a few a Bucks games last year. Thon has some serious holes in his game - most importantly poor hands (catching balls in traffic, rebounding etc.) - but his drive is indeed incredible and he fits the modern league perfectly (inconsistent but promising shooter at 7'1, rim protection potential, incredible at defending the perimeter for his size, exceptional at running the floor for a big).
Coupled not only with his work ethic but legitimate interest in studying the game, good fundamentals (boxing out, moving well on offense, crisp rotations) and a great character from all we know, I'm positive he's going to make an impact in this league for years to come. MVP, well, let's just say I'd be the first one to celebrate if he accomplishes his goal - but I'll wait a little while longer before chilling the champagne.

If he ever materializes into an MVP caliber player, him and Giannis will be frightening together.
