Re: All things Draft Pick. #3
Great interview with Greg Doyel, who is pissed off at Indiana management for not trading PG13 at the deadline. He says in this interview that the Bulls are trading Jimmy Butler for a draft pick to the Celtics. Seems fully convinced that George will follow through with his LA destination. Also drops some all time shade on Kevin Pritchard as the guy who drafted Greg Oden. So last I checked Indianapolis is pretty close to Chicago, Greg Doyle spilling beans?

This tweet to me is quite interesting.
It tells me that the news being relayed from the media didn't come from the Celtics, but it also means we laid an offer on the table for them to accept, not the other way around. Ainge was proactive in trading this pick, again shown by the deal being all but done still 5 days from the draft. The moment Danny has secured an extra asset, we hear the Paul George report that slashes his trade value, and makes him unappealing to anybody that can't contend in 2017-18, as it seems he would just jump to the Lakers. There are very few teams that can claim to contend in 2017-18, but the Celtics + PG (and a max FA) is one of them. The Pacers 99.9% have to trade him after this report, but his market will be CLE, BOS, HOU and SA? BOS by far has the most disposable but attractive assets of that crowd. I will add that it behooves PG to lower his trade value so the team he would be traded to gives up as little as possible. Guys have learned from the Melo deal. Is PG just such a good guy that he's giving the Pacers a 12 months heads up that he's leaving? That's got a bit of a smell about it, no?
I can't help but think Danny was so giddy when he got the 1st pick because he knew he could pull off this plan with the extra asset. I don't think his desire to trade #1 pick is a recent development, I've got to think it was his plan all along.
Ahem

This guy reliable? If so, hard to imagine we take Tatum at #3 if we value explosiveness so much. Gotta be Jackson.

Any chance his agent told him to dog it, jump at 1/2 best?

No way, an agent isn't going to try and get his player to not be the 1st pick. Had to assume the C's were making the 1st pick when he worked out for them. No one tanks to be 2nd or 3rd.

Explosiveness is vital for being a star PG these days tbf. Even less athletic stars like Steph or Kyrie have a killer first step or elite handle/dribble moves to make up for it. It's nice for a SF/PF, but not as crucial.

He still is the first pick. Agent would know about BC talking trade. And going third, playing 30 minutes, building reputation, visibility, endorsement deals, getting max contract better than going first, playing 10-20 minutes, having the second contract be less than max. Or having Boston trade you to a bad situation.

If they trade George, the pacers will have their own stinky pick and go to the tank tank... not great for our Brooklyn or laker pick...something to consider
