Somehow Presti managed to draft back to back to back 'de fact' MVPs
PG: Westbrook
SG: Harden
SF: Durant
PF: Prime 3BPG Ibaka
Anybody else, this team would've worked in case they had dumped Perk

PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Vince Carter
SF: Knee-Mac
PF: Marcus Camby
C: Olajuwon (OK, an almost 60 year-old center but still the best center ever to play for the Raptors).

The Hawks could have had the best backcourt in basketball until Roy got injured with Joe Johnson, Chris Paul(2005 draft), Brandon Roy(2006 draft). We don't don't end up with Horford, but maybe we could have packaged the Pacers pick+ our own in 2007 to draft Noah. Maybe not Jordan level super team, but definitely a factor in the East, and contender for a number of years.

Theorizing alternative picks 5-10 years after the fact isn't something that "almost happened" in my opinion. You could do that with every team, and then you can't say the picks would be the same the following year. Some of these players might not have been on the radar of your GMs.

But yeah, Hill, T-Mac, Duncan was almost a thing. I still weep.

Deng would have been traded in order to fit Bosh's salary. Also, there was no space for Wade if LeBron and Bosh signed.
MJ is the GOAT, but LeBron can be if he does 2 of the following:
[X] Win another FMVP
[ ] Win another MVP
[X] 40K/10K/10K career

OdomFan wrote:Thing about scenarios like that is it's no guarantee the team still gets the other guys so if Chicago gets the Mailman they probably build around him in a completely different way than what happened to eventually land them Michael Jordan. jordan was drafted in 1984
they already had him

rookies rarely affect winning much statistically and jordan broke his foot in the 3rd game of his 2nd season and was put on a minutes restriction when he came back for the final 19 games.

krause drafted sellers a small forward with the 9th pick after that throwaway season (1986) and still traded up to get pippen to replace him in the following draft because that is how strongly krause felt that pippen was headed for stardom
Its because I'm green isn't it?

I'm not going to argue with a Magic mod, but I thought TMac was only a backup after they didn't get Duncan. Hill + Duncan was plan A, then TMac was plan B.

IIRC they were still in discussions with Duncan when McGrady signed.

He was quoted as saying: "“Once Grant and I get here, this will definitely be the city. The East is locked up. If Duncan comes here, it will be scary."

In the 2010 and 2011 drafts, the Sacramento Kings drafted DeMarcus Cousins, Hassan Whiteside, and Isaiah Thomas. If they had stuck with all three, then picked up a decent wing in free agency/through trading... yikes. And what's more, because Whiteside barely did anything in his first two seasons, they'd still have had a lottery pick in 2012, which they could then use on Jae Crowder or Khris Middleton, leading to this:

IT
Someone
Crowder/Middleton
DMC
Whiteside

Title contender.
