I don't think Ainge has done a bad job but he approaches is it different. Belichick acquires more picks playing the weed out the talent strength in numbers game. Ainge clearly is looking to acquire chips hoping to cash in on established players.

I think it's fair to call this trade a little weak but it's not a disaster....yet. This time period between the lottery and the actual draft is weird, fanbases go into this delusional fever where red flags don't matter and busts don't exist.

Something about Fultz spooked Ainge....he could be wrong...but maybe not...

its a good move depending on what he does and what fultz becomes also factors in

But he should trade the number 3 plus some players for pg13 now, like 3 plus crowder . then basically he got the lakers pick next or or sac and also got pg13 for the number 1 pick... that would be a great deal

then sign blake griffin

you got this then

isiah/rozier
bradley/smart
pg13/jaylen brown
griffin
horford

with bk 1st next year, and lakers first next year most likely or sac in 2019

thats a team thats a lock for confrence finals and possibly finals for the next 4 years at least with still picks and assetts flowing in

Celtics are in a weird spot of having a ton of assets but no one with star potential. Yeah they were the number 1 seed and were a great "team." However everyone knew they weren't challenging for a title with little Isaiah and Horford. They were a Rondo injury away from getting embarrassed by the Bulls.

Ainge can have all the picks he wants but a team with 12 Jaylen Browns and Marcus Smarts isn't ever winning anything. We'll see if he makes the big time moves he needs to.

Maybe they don't need a point guard and could get the guy they want with a lower pick. Lower pick means less salary towards the draft pick, which opens up a little more freedom in terms of cap space flexibility going after someone like Hayward.

Another way to look at it is that they might have a deal in place for a star, which is why they got another pick to include in the deal. Only time will tell.

The worst part about this trade for Boston is that IT will likely get the Max. Ugh...

Does Danny Ainge threaten the other GM's with violence or a public embarrassment? My goodness, Ainge is almost getting away with murder.

Hyperbole at its best.

"One of the worst moves in NBA history" = trading down from 1 -->3 in a draft that has no generational talents? Uwotm8?

[Fico92]

Fultz is generational.

(azcatz11)

Generational talent = a Durant, LeBron, Duncan, Kobe, etc...someone who might end up top 20 all time.

You put Fultz in that class?

Do you think it's possible Boston could sign Gordon Hayward and trade for PG13 and Jimmy Butler? 1 year #ALLin (sure don't give up all their picks )
They'd obviously know PG13 and AB would walk at the end of the year but it could be with rings. The bench would be very strong going into next season. Also, they could/would have young bench pieces to step up (M. Smart/ Jaylen Brown) the following year.

No, Fico's is the right definition. That's generally what it's understood as.

Fultz has a loser mentality, he's not fit for the Celtics who hold a prestigious winning mentality.

What makes you think Fultz has a losers mentality? Can't judge him based on one year of college. Heck, he even said that he wants to win the MVP award on his rookie season. Those are big goals, I'd say he wants to win badly, so far from a losers mentality.

Fultz won MVP in the U-18 FIBA games in '16.

Now that the Paul George sweepstakes has officially began, would have been nice for the Celtics to still have Fultz.

ainge has had alot of #1 picks before and there's not one all star or close to all star level player of the bunch. his entire team is built around thomas and his scoring ability.
