Knicks' front office reportedly in 'full survivor mode' right now

Chris Barnewall 1h ago
The Knicks' front office has been at odds with their players for months. They've been infamously feuding with Carmelo Anthony, forcing the triangle onto a roster that doesn't want to use it, and Phil Jackson used exit interviews to rip the entire team in front of the media. The entire situation has gotten so chaotic that Kristaps Porzingis skipped his interviews and has yet to speak with the team.

Everything from the outside looks awful, and according to the New York Daily News, it's even worse on the inside. This isn't a front office that's blasting players to try and motivate them or use any of those old Jackson tactics from his coaching days. No, they're trying to shift the blame.

Several people familiar with the Knicks' thinking believe the Knicks front office, in the wake of the Porzingis debacle, is scrambling to save face but more importantly to protect their jobs.

"The front office is in full survivor mode," said one team source. "The place is a mess so now they want to make it seem like the kid is the problem. Suddenly he's uncoachable. He won't listen. They're trying to put it all on him."

The Knicks have been in a PR disaster ever since Porzingis angrily skipped out on his exit interviews. He's the best young prospect they've had in over a decade and the last thing they need to be doing is angering him. This has led to one of the worst clean up jobs ever as they try to protect their image.

Jackson and the front office seem to be on a collision course with the players where only one side is going to win. They're either going to trade everybody out and start it all over or Jackson could find himself out of New York sooner rather than later.

I see they read my posts around here...

Also, why is Beck any more "in" than Woj is...? Because he's not a Knicks hater...? FOH.

I thought we all connected these dots already. Woj never said Phil wanted to trade KP. He just worded it in a way that would... ya know... serve a purpose.

The later reports actually cited sources that are "very plugged-in" to the Knicks, who said point blank the Knicks weren't offering KP in any deals. Just merely taking calls, which is smart business.

I get it. So, because the tweet says "very plugged in" it means that it's to be believed over Woj. Got it. Makes complete sense. Woj didn't word it in any way that is wrong. Y'all just got panties in a **** bunch because y'all believe he's anti-NY (and, GASP, anti-Phil).

I think they're go try to start over - which is fine IF THEY BRING BACK MAXIMUM VALUE.

However, if we get a repeat of the Chandler and Shumpert / JR trades, and we end up with a lot less talent / legit future assets than we had going in, that would be really, really bad.

I can't explain why Porzingis is as upset as he is, unless he has concluded that winning on this team is less important to management than pursuing ideological agendas.

But it could be that he's just a primadonna. Either way, addition by subtraction is a myth, and no team really gets better by gutting their roster and not receiving maximum compensation.

LOL, right, I'm the one blinded. It's not the sheep who follow him blindly without looking at the totality of the **** he's put us through. Hop off Phil and look at things from a neutral POV and you'll realize why I'm right...again...

Before someone reports me, I meant hop off the bandwagon.

Did KP really do that interview but wont return a phone call? And you guys act like just trade Melo this will all blow over? This isn't going any place until 1 of KP or Phil is moved.

From the outside, I'm not sure what that source is talking about. I've seen it clearly with Melo but don't think Kristaps has been portrayed like that at all. Unless they're talking strictly internally. The main issues any fans have with him have come directly from his camp and personal social media. How he has portrayed himself.
