Morey is by far the smartest and hardest working gm in the league.

Morey definitely has big balls as a GM. He likes to swing for the fences, that's for sure. Credit to him, still needs big time results though.

You know, he's certainly in the conversation. Morey may not have won any rings, but the team has never flat-out sucked in his time there. He's made smart trades and has taken a middling destination city and turned it into a top free agency spot. I don't know if you can say any certain GM is better than Morey. Even the ones that have rings have benefited from circumstances that Morey could've easily succeeded with himself.

No, not even close.

He doesn't have a vision at all for the Rockets, just playing musical chairs with these signings, that won't stick around for a season, season and a half.

This whole "what has he won though" line of thought is so incredibly dumb.

the league is decided by the decisions of a handful of players deciding where they want to play if you're lucky enough they choose you you're a genius but if they don't you suck no matter what you do.

Morey has turned very limited assets into Harden, Howard and now CP3.... pretty impressive.

Who has done more with less? Let us see their resume? Houston hasn't had a top 10 pick in 11 years (number 8). They haven't had a losing season in 11 years. They do it with intelligence and skill.

No, not the best, but they've done a good job. The only knock is that they don't seem to account for fit. Howard was a horrible fit for a fast paced team. Paul is a horrible fit for a team that already has a ball dominant player.

I wouldn't say best, Spurs/Warriors GM's are also very talented as well as a handful of others (Boston/Miami etc).

Morey has done really well with what he's had to work with, certainly one of the best. Defintley a fan favorite for Houston fans.

Posted two weeks ago.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/19591472/zach-lowe-golden-state-warriors-potential-dynasty-2017-nba-finals

"They are not unbeatable," Morey said of Golden State. "There have been bigger upsets in sports history. We are GOING to keep improving our roster."

"We are used to long odds," Morey added. "If Golden State makes the odds longer, we might up our risk profile and get even more aggressive. We have something up our sleeve."

And he's probably not even done making moves yet.

Which is why those Melo rumors make no sense whatsoever. Paul + Harden + Melo?

Man, I'd love to manage a group of all star employees. You just do your job and then people give you credit for the things your employees do. It'd be especially great if one employee recruited yet another all star and I got credit for that, too.

He's been doing this for years and has kept them relevant for a while. He may be more an opportunist than a visionary, but he's a very good opportunist and I believe that is more important than having some grand plan. Anyone can have a plan, but making actual good moves is tough.

Morey is not the best GM period.

He is one of the GMs I respect the most because under his watch this team never tanked over the last decade. Going deep in the playoffs or not, we always stayed competitive. While some other teams saw GS and Cavs and went **** it no point competing lets just prepare for the future, Morey constantly goes for the home run even if there is only a 10-20% of chance beating this current Warriors team. He is taking that chance. I think we need more GMs like him, then league need more GMs like him.

Spot on. 100% agree.

No. Money is ranked properly but he's no where close to the best GM. I give him credit for identifying that Harden could be a leading man, but the Dwight experience was a bust. His free agent signings are so so and he hired Mike Dantoni who never met a defensive scheme he couldn't ignore. His teams have been more hype than substance going back to the Tmac/Yao Ming days.

He should stick to video games so he can make all the crazy trades he desires. The Rockets will never be considered real contenders as long as this clown is in charge. Barkley was right about him.

Morey is a good GM but not the best because they have no rings. Whoever does the cap management and salary negotiation is top notch.

Pop with the luck of getting the #1 pick at the right team has done grear. Meyers in GS is up there with 2 rings and a in their prime core.

When I think best GMs I think of R.C Buford, Bob Meyers and Pat Riley. I think Ainge deserves a mention as well. Morey is definitely a realy good GM and one that isnt afraid to make big moves. But no hes not better then the names above.

Morey is more a great 2k gm than real life gm, meaning he is super at acquiring talent, but not so super at assembling functional teams.

The dude literally just built a 55 win with 1 star. Over 2/3 of the league wishes they could get a superstar without tanking and build a roster around that superstar as balanced and deep as this past year's Rockets.
