Good point. Make the deal. I want my catcher to be defense first, so it makes no difference to me how he hits. The offense really isn't the problem, it's pitching and defense right now along with injuries of course. Duda could check swing home runs in that little park in the Bronx. What a complete joke Yankee Stadium is.

Romine is going to be 29 in Nov. Rene Rivera is better than him. I'd rather get a prospect for Duda.

Oh yeah I like Rivera. Anyone that would replace d'Arnaud would most likely split time or be a backup to Rivera. I doubt we get anything worthwhile for Duda. Maybe at best Low-A ball reliever with a good arm.

The amazing thing is we are actually still in it thanks to the Rockies choke job. But Duda I would dump no matter what.

I guess not.

At his official Mets introduction, Bonilla told the press, “I know you all are gonna try, but you’re not gonna be able to wipe the smile off my face. I grew up in New York. I know what it’s all about.”

This is a resilient team man, leftfor dead just a week and a half ago now they could be 7.5 heading into a 3 game series with the Nats. This isn't over yet men, there is a lot of baseball yet to be played, The run is coming.

"Amazin-ly," you're right.

It's why I don't want to fire Terry Collins. He's a great guy and players play really hard for him. Always have ever since he's been the manager. I just don't recall any time, no matter how bad the team was playing, where I saw them quit on him. I thought maybe I was beginning to see that after the Dodgers series in LA, but that storm has passed and here we are on a hot streak with all these pitchers hurt.

Looks like we won't be sellers. Or is this something that Collins has to say to sell tickets? Somebody help me out here because I thought we were going to be sellers. Only 3 weeks until the trade deadline.

http://nypost.com/2017/07/03/everything-wrong-with-mets-can-be-summed-up-in-this-one-injury/

“We’ve got to get healthy and get a couple of guys back,” Collins said. “If we can put together a second half like some of these guys did in the first half, we’ll be fine. If we continue to not play well and continue to lose more key guys it’s going to be tough to catch up.”

Really hope we don't fall for it. Sell sell sell.

Although with the Turner injury and the Rockies sliding

What are we selling? We have nothing to sell unless we plan on trading deGrom or Matz. Not happening.

And what do you see teams giving up for those players? Keep in mind every team that is selling has similar type of players. Money plays a factor in this too. There is a very limited market for those types. We have no Andrew Miller or Aroldis Chapman or Justin Verlander or anyone who teams would actually give up an asset or two for. If Cespedes was healthy, he could fetch us a good prospect.

For many of them that I listed probably not a helluva not as you point out. But Bruce, Blevins and Reed can probably get us back some prospects, don't you think? A lot depends on how desperate a team might be. The Yankees really need a first baseman.

At this point Id take players to be named later for some of those guys, just let the kids get some experience. No reason why Smith/Rosario aren't up already.

I think if we do trade any of those players it will be more about opening up roster spots and saving money. That just my opinion because there are plenty of teams that can offer those types of players you listed. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong and there is a team out there that sees value in those players and offers someone like a young prospect in low A. But to expect anything more than that is not likely because I don't think we have anything to offer that stands out from the crowd.

Blevins is a nice specialist but other teams have that to offer also. There are better closers available than Reed who is mediocre. Granderson is a nice player to have down the stretch and in the playoffs, but he makes a lot of money. In seasons past I think Bruce could get us something but there is so much power hitting around baseball that he becomes redundant, especially for the better teams. Nobody wants Reyes. Cabrera is a nice player to have but what can we get?

I agree it is more about bringing up the young players and also let's see what someone like Nimmo has to offer. It would be nice if we had a young catcher to bring up too, but oh Sandy never thought about that. I'd like to see a lot more of TJ Rivera. So to me, it is all about opening up roster spots in order to prepare for next season.

You don't think any one of or a combination of Bruce, Reed, Duda, Cabrera and Walker can net you that defensive catcher you've been craving? Or speedy centerfielder?

Yea we aren't getting a Cashman like haul but we could get a starter or prospect who may turn into something down the road.

Well like I said I hope I'm wrong and you guys are right. I don't really think we have anything that stands out that contending teams would want to give up much for. They are looking for difference makers. I like Bruce, but all the good teams have so much power already that there is no need for him. Walker is hurt. Reed is mediocre. Duda is just okay and is always hurt and very streaky. Cabrera and Granderson are probably two guys that could help contending teams the most.

I think our biggest concern right now is why the hell are we getting so many injuries?

I believe I posted an article on this a couple pages back (?). The Mets hired some football training coach who had our guy bulk up. :banghead:
