Tell me every frequent poster from the hip hop threads didn't wonder what Greenie's face was the first time she heard 4:44 (track not album)

Yea 4:44 was nothing special. I'd give it a 7/10.

The beats bored the hell out of me
I know beat snobs love it for how it's crafted but it does nothing for me
Jays very solid lyrically but what the hell happened to his flow? A lot of it is spoken word

Re: Official Rap/Hip Hop Thread IV
Surprised to see the criticism in here.
Album is great, definitely his best album since Blueprint, easily his most cohesive album ever, lyrically he spitting a lot of gems & he's forsaken his flow in favor for raw emotion and truly expressing himself.
Marcy Me, Legacy, Moonlight, 4:44, Kill Jay Z all display Hov at his most vulnerable.
One thing I've always said is rap is like ball, if you lose a valuable skill set (athleticism/flow) make sure you transfer your energy into making something else elite (post-up game/lyrics). Hov definitely has done that and then some.
This is the type of album you ride on the subway, bump on a drive just to think about life, just a dope album to hear from someone who has been mainstream & flossy his entire career.
It's like Nelly making a good conscious album, it's unbelievable.

I was literally on the train when i first heard the album... it's deep
It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

Peddlers Theme is another great project from him...
The Champagne Files is a quickie, but damn good.
Even the Doppelgangaz new album was dope. Probably the most underrated group in NY for some time now.

Spoke to ill and Jose7 about it already. Project is ill. Love the way he attacked those beats. Between that and the new Alchemist tape, we had a good weekend.

One would say it's sacrilegious... because that would mean you don't mess with J Dilla... which would mean I don't mess with you...

I figured he was related to Dilla.
Ayo chill with that though. I love Dilla. Donuts and The Shining never leave my rotation.
