Years to recover from losing Waiters and JJ?

Sorry, I just can't believe that with everybody wanting big money we aren't using the draft to add assets.
Losing out on GH doesn't bother me, because his or price tag is crippling. Outside of the big 3 what big FA has Riley landed? He's a trader if anything. Might As well have more assets (young players) to trade when a guy becomes available.
yeah, we lost our deep rebuild window. trades are coming next.

Honestly speaking the player I wanted the most outside of Lebron and KD was Paul George. Kid is a special talent.

Riley is set in stone after going after the Banana Boat crew or others next season and getting ready to retire. He isn't building young he is building to win that year.
Riley won't bring back LeBron and Wade. Forget about it.
If I've learned one thing as a Heat fan over the years, it's to never count Wade out. Deep down beneath the ego and the pride remains the humble Marquette kid Riley drafted 14 years ago. Him coming back and bringing the banana boat would be a full circle reclimation of him as our forever guy franchise hero.
For what it's worth I still think Miami and what was built here holds a special place in LeBrons heart. He was somewhat pushed into that by his agent and his crew.
It's time for everybody to make peace, and come together, I said when LeBron left that this wasn't over, and I still beleive it today. This is redemption for Wade, Riley, even Melo, and CP3. For LeBron it's taking back what's his with his superteam of support behind him.

Re: Miami HEAT Offseason/Trades/FA Thread: Sardine Central 3.0
We're not bad enough to be 7th place or higher (lotto) to tank.
It's like some of you can't fathom that we aren't that good of a team. We're not as good as the Celtics, stop calling them garbage. In spite of how their playoff run went, they're the 1 seed that went to the ecf; of course Hayward is going to choose them over us. It may not be enough to beat that cavs, but they have a lot of assets to get what they need if they want to compete now. Or they can keep those picks and draft high lotto players. Celtics right now are in a much better position than we are. There's nothing wrong with Riley, circumstances are in the way.
Tanking is not a one season thing. If we do tank this year, our pick is top 7 protected. If we keep that pick, it's unprotected next year. If we suck this year, we will suck next year unless we draft Wade or LeBron and no one of that talent level will be in that draft outside top 2 or 3.
Cannot tank with Dragic and Whiteside on the roster. So you'd be trading a pg and c on good contracts for nothing, hoping the picks we receive land us someone good. Smh.

straight up if JJ and Dion want to play games and think they are hot tickets they can go elsewhere they wont make or break this team. I'd actually prefer to get a guy like jonathan simmons over Dion and I think we can get some good value out of a player like jamychal green who it looks like the grizzlies arent taking action on. Both dudes can be had for around the 10 per year range and I think they are solid options to look at. Simmons especially impressed me with his defense and playmaking in the playoffs supposedly SAS have only offered him 9 million per year and no team has matched so far

broke wrote:Now it's all settled I'm actually totally fine with no Hayward, that salary is outrageous and sure he'd have made us better but we aren't winning anything with Hayward as our main guy taking up that much salary. I can however now see Dion and JJ leveraging us knowing that we have fewer choices but to take them or risk being trash in a trash eastern conference which kinda sucks.
And I'm a solid pass on banana boat crew raping the Heat cap space just so they can live out the fantasy of playing together. Riley doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who'd let LBJ come in here and treat the Heat like he has the Cavs.
LeBron was never allowed to do that here, which is one of the reasons his group of clingers pushed so hard to return home. What the banana boat needs more than anything is support. They have talent to be elite on any given night, but at their age, carrying Wade and Melo they are going to take nights off. What they will need more than anything to be successful is a system and coach who understands how to make 4 ball dominant ball players co-exist, and a system that can develop young talent to surround them with to counter their old legs.
You aren't going to find better than Spo and Co in that regards. Not to mention the familiarity he had with LeBron, and the personal success James had playing in his system.
IMO its a hand and glove fit, just like I beleive Bam, Winslow, and Mcgruder are the pefect role playing fits along side of them. Bam to bang inside, Winslow to guard the other teams best player, and Mcgruder to be the glue guy. Don't tell me you guys wouldn't take LeBron back? Those players are somewhat past their primes, but it would be a bigger spectical than the Big 3, and instead of being hated, the team would probably be beloved.

LeBron will be turning 34 years old next December. Melo to be 35 January of 2019. Wade will be 37. Why in the **** do any of you want those old men?

I don't want Wade back. I want that #BitchLifer to retire struggling for the Pelicans, the Grizzlies, the Kings, the Nets...that's what he deserves.
Or that he signs a decent deal and he struggles so bad that he gets so much hate from the fans of the team he's playing for that he and Gabrielle Union break up and he gets taken to the cleaners by bad business advisors and his ex wife rightfully gets her revenge and gets the kids and the money back.

Wade was 99% responsible for the FA coup we scored in 2010 IMO. Before that and since then Riley hasn't landed anyone of note. Since Odom, I believe. Not the best salesman it seems.
However, as a tradesman, he has excelled. Zo, Shaq, Mash, EJ, Timmy, etc. Instead of sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for the big name FA to pick us, it might be more neuroprotective of us to keep an eye on the guy who could shake loose. The dingleberry, if you will.

Lebron is ageless to be honest KD. But there's no harm in experimenting with them on a 1-2 year deals.
What else can we do to build a team that beats or comes close to beating the Warriors?

Embrace the "treadmill". Embrace the continued development of Winslow, Jrich, TJ, and now the newly acquired Bam Adebayo.
There will be no shortcut to greatness. And that's fine. Doesn't mean there isn't going to be an entertaining product to watch every night.

We're not good enough to attract those disgruntled, dingleberry free agents. They'll just sign cheap to better teams. Our team has to prove that they're better than half a season of basketball and actually do something in the playoffs.
