Oh, & then there's this:
dckingsfan wrote:...Was it worthwhile last year to have Burke/Thorton play ahead of Sato/Mac last year? ...

DCZards wrote:...probably not.

"Probably" not, zards? Burke & Thornton were both absolutely horrible. Sato & Mac were a great deal better than those guys. Much better.

Where does the "probably" come in?

And, in that sense....

DCZards wrote:I want Sato and Mac to play quality minutes. But I believe they should earn those minutes, which they haven't done thus far, imo. So it makes perfect sense for the Zards to have a backup plan (or insurance) in the form of Meeks and Frazier.

... who should start the season as the backup PG? Who should start the season as the backup SG?

What has Frazier done to "earn minutes" over Sato? What would has Meeks -- coming off injury & having not had an in any sense good season since 2013-14 -- done to "earn minutes" over Mac?

I wish porter had come back and negotiated with us some more, and maybe just maybe signed a 5 year deal for a little more cash to help us out. Oh well sign him up and lets get rolling.

I expect that to be decided based on their play during training camp and preseason. I'm rooting for it to be Sato and Mac...as I've said several times.

Who said anything about Frazier having earned minutes over Sato or Meeks earning minutes over Mac?

It pains me to say it, but PIF has been right about Otto all along, and us who thought he was a bust initially have been wrong. Pay that dude his money.

If you believe in Oubre & depth is your biggest issue, $23mil could plug a few holes. If you can find depth, a sign & trade becomes an option. My understanding is that terms have been agreed upon, but nothing signed yet.

The Nets appeared to be the only team willing to extend a max. The Wizards are swallowing hard to match it. Basically, everyone likes Porter, but nobody really likes him much at that price. What makes you think Porter, on that contract, has enough value as a trade asset to bring back something useful in return?

Nate, what is the contract breakdown now that the Nets offered him the max? From what I recall, it's like 3-4 million lower per year than what the Wizards could have offered b/c the raises are lower.

Read on Twitter

President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

But Burke/Thorton didn't earn their minutes - they were given them...

They had to unearn their minutes to get them out of there.

I doubt that what happened last year will really matter much when it comes to what will happen this year.

Yeah- I'm with you. PG and Gordon are gone...Porter isn't on thier level at the forward.... but is becoming Gordon Haywards equal or better out of the question for Otto? We better hope not because Boston beat us last year and improved thier roster. Cousins ain't walking in that door anytime soon. Wall Needs to apologize to OP and lets get this show on the road...

we going Into the Season again next year with the same starting 5 and hoping for better results...definition of basketball insanity or the E.G. Way?...maybe the same thing. Lets go Wiz.

I could not disagree more.

After Coach Brooks did not even consider playing Mac or Sato in the playoffs; he is not going to give them much burn in the regular season this following year.

DCZ, minutes being earned is a meritocracy. That's the way it should be. That would assume objectivity and no prior bias on the part of the coach.

I don't think Brooks is that sharp.

What I expect is just like Bogs came in and played all the minutes instead of Sato and Mac, so will Meeks, so will Frazier, and so will Mike Scott. Veterans.

They might as well waive McCullough and I won't be surprised if they do waive Mac. They won't play at all. It won't matter how well they play in practice, either.

I expect Kelly Oubre will get his minutes. But many times even he will be sitting and watching Meeks take shots.

I agree with CCJ, Mccullough doesn't have a prayer with Mick Scott on the team and Michael Young getting a two-way deal. Mac will be waived to save money too. I hope i'm wrong and that coach Brooks will try McCullough in SB line-ups.

I think Sato is toast. From what I've seen from Frazier its going to be tough beating him out. And unlike others I don't think Sato has a prayer at any position but the 1.

Wish Otto would give us more access into his off-season workouts. I like seeing stuff from Kelly and Brad every summer.

Actually, that's only for players 23 and younger. Gobert and DeAndre Jordan also did it last season, as did Reggie Miller and Horace Grant in the early 1990s.

Still, a remarkable stat.

Ok, got you.

And... here's hoping they all play great!! :) Make it tough to dole out minutes!
