Hawks likely won't match as we appear to be rebuilding.

Not a great contract, obviously. Because you guys overbid by a few million. But not a complete albatross.

But THJ, in the right system, can be a productive guy. He avg 17/3/3 as a starter for a playoff team last year. He can likely match that production and carry you for a few games when he gets hot.

He's not a lead scorer, but if he's the #3 option on your squad...your squad should be able to compete offensively in the East.

His defense on the other hand.... :noway:

Ultimately, it's up Hornacek to put this kid in position to succeed. He has the skills. Also...hope that the bright lights on Broadway don't shine too bright on him. He wouldn't be the first big money free agent to sign and struggle under the weight of expectations.

Doubtful the Hawks match as Bazemore is making similar money at the same position...$30+ mil for 2 borderline SGs - too rich for Atlanta. If Baze is moved, then Hawks match.

AS long as Thjr is in a structured system he can thrive - it's a free for all, he'll struggle. He can't and shouldn't be your first offensive option. His defense that was non existent when he first arrived in Atlanta it exists now, but still needs a lot of work.

I'm very glad the Knicks signed THJ to that contract amount because I wanted THJ at 4 years and 44 mill...decision made easy for us. We are usually on the other end of deals like this. Lol.

Welcome back Moose. I figured he was the most likely to come back. He will also probably be the only one. Maybe Thabo on the cheap.

I love Thabo but he's as good as gone. I give Thabo a 5% window to return to us. He would be a good fit with the Spurs or the Rockets.

I think you're right, he fits on a contender. I'm just saying that he'd be the type of vet to keep around for the young guys. Only Hawks FA that I'd care to keep now that Moose is back

Roster might be starting to take shape

Plumlee / Stone / Kaba
Collins / Moose
Prince / Baze
Dorsey / Bembry / Bellineli
Schro / Delaney

* J Crawford

No depth chart just listing players. Schlenk can sit back and let it come to him now. Probably no big coup, but plenty of opportunity to add anoth nice young player on a good contract.

For sure. No doubt Thabo has been a great team guy for us and would continue to be a wonderful mentor for guys like Prince and Bembry. We do have money that needs to be spent to fill out the roster. I'd definitely keep Thabo on a flexible deal like the one Moose received.

Having said that, I feel he might want to go chase a ring somewhere. In any event, I'd welcome him back with open arms.

That is a roster dedicated to one thing and one thing only...getting a top 3 pick in the draft.

Man, that team is bereft of talent.

Maybe a SnT for a 2nd to some team - Minny, Houston, Clippers, Cavs,?

Would be perfect for Minny, Clipps and Cavs. Houston wouldn't work anymore because they signed PJ Tucker. I guess he could still work there as well.

Embrasse the suck. Easy for the Falcons to say because they're on top of the world and know they have the talent to right the slip. Hawks need to embrasse the suck for totally different reason; they are going to be very bad and everyone knows it.

The reason (hope) to embrasse the suck with the Hawks is in the hope that the temporary suck will turn into young guys becoming stars in the not distant future.

Instead of cheering futile wins, we can cheer incremental progress and the endeavor to be really good.

Just hoping the other fans who don't come to any Hawks boards, or the more casual ones can embrace it also... hoping Collins can ball df out can get all rookie considerations, especially if we're gonna be so bad.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

That roster screams Porter Jr with the #1 pick.

We stretch provisioned Crawford post-buyout. They have to be looking to spend that money now or it just doesn't make sense.

I feel like we'll make a play for KCP... And I'd be just fine with that.

I'm surprised. The only justification I can see is that TS plans on spending....

I think he'll look for deals that might not get us many more wins this year, but will help to accelerate the rebuild through development or trade.

The above roster really needs help just to be NBA worthy
