Would you want to take a chance on former no.3 overall pick Jahlil Okafor? At this point he seems like a low risk, high reward type of investment. The Sixers wouldn't ask for much and he's on a rookie deal with a team option for 18-19 I believe.

I think he'll look for deals that might not get us many more wins this year, but will help to accelerate the rebuild through development or trade.

The above roster really needs help just to be NBA worthy

Yeah, I'd be okay kicking off our rebuild by poaching KCP and Nerlens Noel.

Those two plus Dennis and Taurean would at least be competitive while still bad enough to miss the playoffs.

Though, that might not fit Trav's strategy/timeline.

In my dreams, a lineup of Horford-Noel-Taurean-KCP-Dennis (with Korver off the bench) is the next great team waiting to lead the East after LeBron's untimely demise decline.

Not a big fan of KCP. Noel would be grat but don't see DAL letting him go.

I'm still hopeing TS can take advantage of some team needing to shed some salary. Take on a marginal player and get picks as compensation.

Yeah. We wouldn't pay much for him, as his stock is pretty low right now.

But he has a specific skill set and is still young enough to develop into a solid (if flawed) player.

I think he can be a really good first big man off the bench. Guarding backups limits his defensive deficiencies. But he would be better than most second unit bigs in this league.

TS is going full rebuild. Next draft chances are we have a pick in the top 5, another 18-20 and another mid to late twenties. The roster is ready to loose.

Two years of tanking while accumulating and developing young talent followed by the rise of the new Hawks.

Ressler has done a great job with the FO, coach, arena, DL team, med staff and marketing, now it's time to build the new Hawks team

I'm unclear on one thing here...in the Millsap deal we got a first round pick from Houston via the Clippers. Is it the Rockets draft position or the Clippers for the 2018 Hawks pick?

Rockets. It went from Houston to LA ad part of the Paul trade.

It's Houston's draft pick.

Congratulations to Atlanta Hawks owner & management for not giving Paul Millsap an offer and for not matching the insane Knicks offer sheet to Hardaway. Maybe the Hawks are just retrenching and will go insane next year but at least there is a display of sanity here.

What's Ian Clark up to? Might he end up as our backup point on a team-friendly deal? I wouldn't hate that.

All's been quiet on the western front since the Crawford buyout.

After using the stretch provision on JC we really need to use most, if not all, of our cap space. It wouldn't make sense if we don't. I've still got my eyes on Caldwell-Pope.

I'm ok with KCP on a small contract as a bench player, but I want to see Bembry as a starter and develop.

I'm warming to the idea of KCP but, I agree, it would need to be a good contract. Expect a couple of Kelly type signings for minimum and a couple of guys that can come in and play minutes.

I also really want the emphasis to be on giving minutes to the young guys.

I think TS is sitting back to see if he can pull off a Carroll type deal netting some picks. Total rebuild season

Here's a good explanation of the buy-out

https://www.peachtreehoops.com/2017/7/5/15926252/atlanta-hawks-salary-cap-update-jamal-crawford-paul-millsap

The numbers are unofficial and unknown at this point, but should be close to this.

So the big question is will he be streached or we take the cap hit this year? If we're doing the hard tank this season, could just make sense to eat the cost up front and bring in cheap guys to fill out the roster.

If TS wants to get a Caroll type deal, he will need some cap to use.
