Re: The MeloPause Trade Thread
Knicks have to do what's best for the team. Not what's best for Melo. I love that they've fought their way back into a position to have leverage. Between Melo's NTC and Phil publicly shytting on him, they had zero. And knowing Morley the deal reflected that. Now, Houston wants Melo and Melo wants Houston. We have a competent GM to come in and assess whether this is to our advantage.
I would bet Melo expands his list to include teams like Boston and Minnesota or even Miami.
Melo's not interested in exercising his ETO, because he wants to maximize his money. No team is going to pay him what we're paying him as a free agent and there's no way in hell he'd give up his Bird rights. So the Knicks now have leverage with him there too.
If he wants to leave AND get all of his money, the only way is through a trade or staying put. The Knicks have to show they're willing to sit on Melo for two more years then let him walk. They've got to play hardball.

Re: The MeloPause Trade Thread
well now that Phil is gone apparently were back to negotiating from a position of strength
right now Melo wants out
right now we have a potential 4 team deal to send him where he wants to go but apparently were not getting what we want, otherwise id would be a done deal
and so we stop the negotiations and we start talking about finding a role for melo here next year
this is gonna piss off Melo and open the door for more destinations for him
If he doesn't want to be here he doesn't have to force a trade to 1 team, he can open his trade destinations to other teams
If the Rockets really want him they can sweeten the deal or work harder
If Clev wants him they see this moment as an opportunity to get back in the mix
this is negotiation
were just not used to seeing it from the Knicks

By now, Melo is a big boy and understand it's a business. If he can't understand that the Knicks are not obligated to take Morey's hot garbage for a Melo/Paul/Harden second round knockout, then that's on him.
I like this move because it allows Cleveland to get back into the picture. Melo has got to know, if he pairs up with Lebron then it's a lock that he makes the Finals.
Here's some fat to chew...while I don't want Kevin Love on the Knicks, he is A LOT easier to move than Ryan Anderson. Flip Love to a team with extra first round picks.
Thoughts?

Facts ON Facts
Go leave with phil jackson.
You think those are facts?? The good ole unnamed sources are facts?? Como on now, you should know by now to not listen to the media and their stories when they're just looking to stir things up especially the new york media.
It's common sense though. If you publicly don't value something why should I give you something of value to take it from you?
Why?
WHY?
Phil's gone. Melo's value reverts to whatever it was. Which is to say, not a ton, because his intrinsic value is reduced by the NTC, which Phil gave to him (stupidly)
Still, he has value, and Knicks are smart to hold out for whatever that may be, if both sides are motivated to part ways.

Of course he is frustrated, anybody would be, but let's not try to pretend he's initiating this attention. Did Melo outright demand a trade this offseason or did someone spend a decent portion of his few press conferences confirming that the Knicks wanted to move on from Melo? We could have just been like any other franchise and kept Melo until we were ready to trade him while shutting TF up. But no, we decide it was a better idea to publicly put our best player on the trade market...fcking Phil. How's that goink?
Phil Jackson already did that.
I cant blame rest of the organization for this.
I dont care how much Melo's worth at this point.
We dont need to trade him for Ryan Anderson contract.
Yea maybe contender teams arent willing to give valueable assets. Thats not our problem. I dont care about Houston/Cavs or Melo's interest.
If Melo wants to go he can next offseason. I dont see a point to take any bad contracts back.
I'm not advocating either way. I honestly don't care what happens, the Knicks are going to be a better team next year with or without him. But if he's on this team come the beginning of this season, they need to kill the media drama and make peace with the current situation. Otherwise get the damn trade done without all the noise. Letting the media (or Melo's team according to some on here) point fingers only leads to a toxic MSG come opening day. Notice how fast Doc Rivers killed the mess about Chris Paul when he got traded. It just takes a couple of statements to shut these guys up.
NY Media will always create some drama about Knicks players/FO.
I believe Melo to be good scapegoat at this point. If he leaves we'll see some negative rumours, articles about KP. NY Media wont stop this thing.

We could've had him instead of OJ, who probably will never play for us. Hoodwinked once again.
Tim Frazier had a couple of triple doubles this season. Phil was never interested.
Yea was a fan of his since two years ago.... the same year a fan of Seth Curry and JaMycal Green, who both turn out pretty part time starters/bench player for their teams.... currently a fan of Troy Williams 21yrs, Christain Woods 22yrs think they both could get busy in the league also.

Cleveland wants to pair Melo with Bron, Kyrie AND Love. They want us to take their chit for Melo, not anything of substance.

To be fair - Frye, Shumpert, Cedi and a pick would be great for us. Clear cap and Shump has an ETO - or can be dealt.

Re: The MeloPause Trade Thread
This is all just fake news, the media is driving this spin and they want it all ways so they can continue to feed the narrative they want to push.
Melo has been reported to want to be in NY, this is his home that's why he wanted the NTC and then they report it's going to a mess if he is in NY next season.... so which is it? Does he want to be in NY or not, can't have it both ways.
They say Melo's value has been shot but then they report how he's wanted by team... so again, which is it?
They say he's overrated and old but then why do they think he will help the Rockets? They want it both ways.
Not to mention the endless drum beat of buyout.... buyout ....buyout.....buyout....bullsnot!
It's not much different than when Melo came to NY, first there was nothing the Knicks had to get this supadupastar then after the trade they gave up a king's ransom for an inefficient selfish player.
They are attempting to push the franchise into acting on their false narrative through media whipped fan delusion.
It's gotten to the point that it's obvious that the intense scrutiny of the media on the Knicks makes it nearly impossible to build a team because they have their bullisht clickbait agenda and all that matters to them is their own attention, not honest reporting on the team.
Dolan may be inept but even the best people within professional basketball would be hard pressed to last through even a single season without becoming just fodder for the media's self interest meat grinder mindset.
Keep Melo is all teams are offering is garbage on longer deals, it's better to have him be tank commander for another season which is he has proven is his best skill, then he can opt out, I don't care.
No buyout, no garbage, no problem.

A buyout makes zero sense from a Knick perspective.
Anthony has a contract and he must uphold it. However, he is free to opt out next summer.

People saying what I said from the beginning about the Knicks having the leverage. That's all there is to it. The Rockets need Melo.

Agreed. That is a good haul for Melo - Cedi looks good & Shump can be moved. I still don't know why this wasn't done already.

We have no need for Frye (too many big men as is) and Cleveland needs to bleed if they're getting Anthony.

No need for Frye? His contract expires and offer some us cap relief. Cap relief + solid euro prospect + a pick is more than enough for MarshMelo.
