Worst Front Office(s) in the last 15 years?

Post#1 » by Deivork » Sun Jul 16, 2017 2:24 pm

Which Front Offices have been the poorest team managers, underperformers or did the least with the most in the last 15 years?

That is from 2003 draft to 2017 offseason. Thought it would be useful to get a less biased grasp of Realgm's opinions.

My answer is based off opinion and the eye test not facts or statistics...

1. Nets
2. Kings
3. Bobcats/Hornets

Knicks if we're allowed the Layden and Isiah years. Knicks were watchable for like 3 years, 2004/2010/2011 NBA seasons where they put out a playoff roster.

Peak/Prime years goes to Nets. Longevity goes to the Kings. It depends on which criteria you value more, tbh. Tough call. I'll go with the Kings.

T'Wolves are pretty bad. No playoffs in 13 years, is laughable.

The kings and Nets are the low hanging fruit because of their recent ineptness but both franchises had much better days under Thorn and Petrie.

The Bucks and Wolves have add terrible runs. The Raps pre Ujiri were terrible.

If we're loking at the entire 15 years.

Kings
Knicks
Wolves

The Bob (cats) Johnson era in Charlotte is up there. Jordan isn't the best owner in the NBA but he's head, shoulders, chest, and torso above Johnson.

I mean hell cant you just say Brooklyn and end the thread?

If Jaylen Brown and Tatum pan out and whoever is the pick in the top 5 this year pans out such as Ayton who has been compared to David Robinson that trade is one of those rare deals that can set a team back a decade.

But that being said I do like what they've been doing this offseason. Marks is showing progress.

Not counting the last 5, the Warriors for the previous 20 prior to that and then it's between the Kings and the Knicks (Kings trying to keep it in Cali). Clippers have been pretty bad lately, but not the last 15.

the last 15 years...the nets haven't been that bad for 15 years. They had some good teams with Kidd and VC then only recently got horrible. The pistons won a championship so not even sure how they made the list.

Really, the Kings (unfortunately) have been bad for the majority of this time. followed closely by Minny w/ long playoff droughts.

Cleveland should be an option. They were absolutely horrible before they lucked into LeBron James. They wasted the early years of James's career, drafted horribly, and is only a contender because they lucked into three #1 picks + James coming back.
MJ is the GOAT, but LeBron can be if he does 2 of the following:
[X] Win another FMVP
[ ] Win another MVP
[X] 40K/10K/10K career

Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. Recent successes are going to keep the Warriors and Clippers off this list but historically they deserve mention.
Aside from the "We Believe" season, the Warriors were nonentities for quite a stretch and prior to Chris Paul's arrival the Clippers were the poster child for NBA ineptitude.

Detroit has a championship and 6 ECF appearances in the last 15 years. Maybe if this was about the last 8 years it would be more appropriate to have them as an option.

Where are the Bucks? Haven't won a single playoff series during that span, and in the terrible East too.

Nets, they've been so bad it's completely negated some quality Jason Kidd teams.

Also how are the Pistons on this list? They were good/great for about a third of those 15 years.

I wouldn't say the Nets, 15 years ago they were in the Finals and in the playoffs for years after. Then we got Carter for not much, it was still exciting. It wasn't until Billy Dumbo came here.
