I think DSJ is more like CJ if anything, but to answer your question...yes he COULD be. From the eye test, Smith looks to have as much potential as anybody in the draft and 22-25 ppg is not unforeseeable from him. Maybe, more like 16-17 this year and a jump to 22 next... But I wouldn't compare him to Dame based on playing style alone.

I really love his potential as a two way player so definitely, yeah. He could be.

DSJ is entering the league far younger than when Dame did. I could definitely see him get to Dame's level and maybe even surpass it.

As in they both penetrate and can shoot big 3s?

I don't see it...

It's honestly a compliment to say he looks more like CJ who has a wider offensive skill-set than Dame.

Is it bad that every time he takes off for a dunk I get a bad vibe? Biggest reason I soured on his long term potential, he's probably going to be a stud for 4-6 years before injuries hamper him.

Way too early to say. These summer league games can be very deceiving.

Can we pause all of these crazy threads until these kids play a single game in the NBA?

Why do I get a feeling this is what people, especially NY fans, wish would happen?

I mean his drives aren't really as aggressive or violent as Rose or Westbrook's. Call me crazy but he actually plays with more pace than either of them.

Anyways, can he be as good as Lillard? Skill set wise they're different but I think he can reach that level of play. His floor game is better than i thought and he seems to be a willing passer specifically off of the pick and roll. I think he would look a lot better in the reg season with Rick coaching and playing with the starters.

Reminds me more of Baron Davis, not sure I see the Lillard comp.

Lillard is a very good shooter, Smith has a lot of work to do to catch up on thst end. But Smith looks stronger physically and more athletic.

I absolutely love Dennis Smith Jr., I see him as a more efficient Baron Davis (which is a phenomenal player).

Don't wish no harm on him, it sadly just looks like it's going to be inevitable. Of course there's going to be a large contingency of Knick fans who wanted Smith over Frank, but lets see these guys play maybe some games before this story drives us all insane. I mean we got highlights already breaking down the way Smith lands on his dunks and jump shots, combine that with injuries he's already had? He's just going to have to wear that red flag, but hopefully he never gets hurt. On the other hand there are tons of Knick fans who were extremely happy we drafted Frank, myself included and it had nothing to do with potential injuries, I personally just like Frank as the better fit.

Not to derail the thread, but Smith is going to have to prove he can shoot like Lillard, Lillard in that regard is light years ahead of Smith.

That's kind of been my feeling about him as well. He'll be electric his first 6 years in the league or so, but when you consider his style of play at the size he's at, it's not exactly a recipe for longevity.

So he'all be good for at least half a decade. Then you get whatever knee injuries come his way and it's not hard to see him falling of a cliff at a younger age than most other players.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.
