It tells me that he is a unique and rare talent and may potentially have the ability to impact the game in a way we haven't seen. He has been a tremendous asset for every team he has ever played for and does not appear to be slowing down. His game clearly has some holes, like all players, but the fact his game cannot be easily categorized is a sign of the enormous potential he has.

Theres no correlation of not being categorized and for that having enormous potential, but nonetheless I'm a huge fan as people already know.

He's a cool kid, first and foremost. Doesn't get phased out, no panic, he's just smooth.

My thing on him now is his defense, it looks like Isiah and him are the worst pG defenders in the L. He really needs to use his length and play harder defensively. Those habits start now.

You know what I mean. He has an incredibly unique combination of skills that make his game hard to categorize within traditional positional roles and past players. This in combination with the high impact he has demonstrated at every level shows he has great potential to positively influence the game in a way we haven't exactly seen before.

That punch pass tonight! Those full court passes. The lay ups. His footwork. Ball has played much better than advertised. He gets steals like CP3 getting in passing lanes. His O style is very different.

I haven't seen a PG this fun to watch. I can't wait to see what happens to unique players like Randle that can also get a trip dub.

And also Kuzma! What a steal.

Kidd was a 9 time all nba defender. Ball is very bad defensively. So no.

You can just tell how much it pains some people inside to give the kid a compliment . Lonzo straight up ballin' right now. I've been saying since pre-draft that there isn't really a comparison for him. He's a unique talent.

The way they play in transition/half court is extremely similar.

I remember when Kidd would move further along in transition before making the pass whereas Ball tends to throw the ball ahead earlier. I think Ball will have a better jump shot from a young age whereas Kidd took forever to develop a good outside jump shot.

Brings me to the silliness of people stating Kuzma is made by Ball. When Ball sits, Kuzma does well too. Hoping for Randle he is just as good of a combination with Ball, or he'll be out the door.

Really a guy that probably 90% of this board never heard of till last month is the reason Ball looks good? People said the same exact thing last year, "Ball only looks good because he gets helped out cause he's on a stacked team." Even though he joined a team that finished below .500 the year before. Wherever Ball has gone the offense explodes and everyone plays great. There is one commons debenture l denominator in all of this, it's Ball.

I've read some hot takes but this one puts Skip Bayless to shame.

Leave alone everything else, the fact that Caruso signed a two way contract means he can only play 28 games in the NBA and the rest have to be in the G-League.

Did you actually read what I posted? I stated they'vve helped each other this ummeer league. Had Ball been setting up Dorian Finney every game, he'd look less impressive. Would Kuzma be set up by Wade-Baldwin IV all tournament, he'd look less impresssive. These are two guys who help each others' games.

Also, you'll probably say it's in general and not directed at me, but you can miss me with he snarky comment about not knowing Kuzma till last month. 90% of this board are casual fans. They don't know Holden and would've picked Kennard top10. Should I care what 90% of these fans think? Guess again, we're taslking about Kuzma, who's looked like a perfectly fine talent with a game very much suited for the current type of game being played in the NBA to most people who've watched him in College. When people thought he wouldn't be drafted, tto mocking him in the 2nd round, to eventually maaaaaybe late 1st if he was lucky, a lot of people been saying he'd be a smart pick for a lot of teams drafting in the middle rounds. Lakers are perfect for him, now they also have Ball. These guys' games fit well.

He doesn't have the strength Kidd had, he's a mix between him and Rubio, definitely not Paul.
I see him similar to Ricky, let's see how accurate his awkward shot will be and how good of a finisher he'll actually be, as those are the things (and injuries) that hold Rubio back.
I really don't see him turning into a primary scorer, though.

Kevin Pelton went on a bit of a rant on Ball:

To be fair, Pelton has been hyping Ball as the best player in this draft for a long time now. So everything he says will be pro-Ball.

Pelton relies entirely on RPM and WAR. That's his only bias.

Those Kidd comparisons just show me that people are always focused on offense-only when comparing players. Kidd was Kidd not only because of his passing and triple-double skills. He was also Kidd because he was a phenomenal defender. I actually think that Kidd's reputation on defense comes up way too short in this thread. BPM has its flaws, but just for the record, Kidd in his long career has never had a negative DBPM season. He was a nine-time all-defense selection, and I'd say deservedly so.

Kidd was a huge part in turning the Nets from a below-average defensive team into one of the league's best for around half a decade. Here's the Nets' defensive ranking (DRTG) during his time there:

(2000-01 23rd)
2001-02: 1st
2002-03: 1st
2003-04: 4th
2004-05: 7th
2005-06: 4th
2006-07: 15th

Only in his last full season in New Jersey did the Nets drop out of the elite defensive category. And before in Phoenix:

(2001-02: 12th)
2000-01: 2nd
1999-00: 3rd
1998-99: 19th
1997-98: 6th
(1996-97: 20th, Kidd played 33 games after getting traded mid-season to the Suns)
