Kendrick Perkins Seeking NBA Return

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jul 16, 2017 10:11 pm

Kendrick Perkins hopes to return to the NBA in 17-18 after sitting out the entire 16-17 season.

Perkins has been working himself back into playing shape and is seeking a training camp invite.

"I've been keeping my weight down, making sure I'm getting all the cardio I need, staying in great shape," he told the newspaper. "I'm just going to do what I can. I feel good. I've been on top of my basketball work and I'm just waiting for my opportunity, [if it] happens. I've just changed my diet, working on my quickness, and just trying to get better. It's 30 teams out there and I'm just looking for one opportunity. It will come. I'm just trying to leave it in God's hands."

Perkins last played in the NBA in 15-16 with the Pelicans.

"You're sitting back, waiting on a job, you want in and not just sitting around the house. I wasn't ready for that in that point in my life," he told the Globe. "I think it was a very humbling situation for me. I thought it made me realize the importance and not to take it for granted."

Did anyone tell Perkins the league once again has high demand for a slow aging center who can not shoot?

Watch the Cavs sign stone face to sit on the bench with ice on his knees and stare like a tough guy.

This doesn't surprise me what with the cap & salary spike. He must be hoping he could get another million or two out of either a young team in need of veterans, like Phily or LA, or a playoff bound team with a high salary looking to fill their last roster spots, like Boston or Houston.

Besides being a "locker room guy" or a final spot on a roster he doesn't really carry much value. No shooting range, average rebounder not a bad bruiser.

Boston could use an athletic rebounder, but they don't need another big man just to fill up the roster. Baynes negates the need for a Perkins type of player.

Wow. The dudes only 32

Seriously though he was as horrible as anyone getting significant minutes in the entire NBA the last 5 years. We are talking about 6 PER level bad.

He'd be good for the Rockets since they are thin after giving away 8 players and only have Nene behind Capela.

He may only be 32, but he peaked at 25. I mean there are the Lebrons who are the best players in the NBA at 32, then there are the Perkins who hasn't been good in over 5 years, when he should of been entering his prime.
