Phil was interviewed by everyone day 1 and everyone said the same thing about him talking more than his predecessor. I would just ignore day 1.

Tuned in a little late, but heard the Francesca interview…it was pretty good....from what i remember:

-Mike said he loved what he did at Sac...(think he said JR Fox :lol:

)
-talked about playing at Oregon and some of the college teams back then
-Perry said Joe Dumars was his biggest influence…still talks to him…Hammond big influence as well. Thanked Vlad for giving him an opportunity as well
-they built those detroit around defense, tough players and selfless players....Even though Dumars was in charge, sounded like Perry had a lot of input
-Defense still really important today and Perry wants to do the same…mentioned GS still one of the top defensive teams as much as they are a great offensive team…Mike agreed.
-Asked about the types of players he wants to bring…again, mentioned defense, high character, high IQ players, that can move the ball, long athletic players…u can tell a lot about how a player comes up and his attidute
-Said he has seen a lot of film on Frank from Sac. Really likes him as a player…defense first, team player…fits his mold.
-Asked about KP…looks forward to working with him and getting to know him.
-Melo – will sit down and evaluate…etc…maybe he stays, maybe he goes…same thing they have been saying.
-Mike asked if this was the greatest pg crop he has seen? Perry laughed and said Mike should tell him. Said, they have all looked great at summer league and hopes Frank will be in that conversation.
-Hopes to see the team play hard and compete short term. Will take some time and long term they want to build a championship team.

Short version:
huge emphasis on defense, high IQ, long, athletic, team first players (kinda describing Frank as a prospect)

Supposedly, whatever happened with the Magic he had little control over. Their management was in a power struggle and disarray.

He did have say with the Pistons, and Kings. BOTH teams had EXCELLENT turnaround with that.

Mills will sign off on everything final but Perry will have the lead on day to day stuff here and they're ALL supposedly on the same page in terms of team direction.

No more Melo shot calling it seems.
